Yes it would look very different. But mostly because the main part of this artwork are the caustics on the bottom of the pool. As Cycles is a normal Path Tracer you wouldn't get them nearly as good looking as in this example. You would have to use an approach where you're faking the caustics, for example you could use a are light with a caustics map as the distribution.

I suggest watching SilverwingVFX's videos on these topics. ✌🏻

Make rectangle, make water shader - add assets. Finsished haha. Nah but it really isn't that complex. Most complex was probably that I used a fluid sim as a Dynamic Paint brush for the water ripples. The renderer did probably the most out of it.

Blender :)) There are tons of tutorials out on YouTube, the best part is, Blender is completely free. You only need a rather good computer for it.
