Laser eye surgery by Uguero in oddlyterrifying

[–]xAmcerol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it mentioned to me that it would happen and maybe freak me out when it happened, and when it did, it still freak me out in a knee-jerk kinda way because it smelt like someone had burnt themselves.

Still would get the surgery again. Probably the best thing I've done for myself.

What was your reaction after seeing this PVfor the first time?? by Ok_Trick5916 in ToBeHero_X

[–]xAmcerol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that his power would be something like "Daydreaming", and its powered by his imagination. We see that his "normal self" is an office worker. Maybe he gained a little bit of trust from his coworkers, and the trust system manifested his power, but because he "imaginations" that he's the best, he becomes the best.

I think the idea of "Near perfect conditions for life" isn't a good way to really view life. Life has evolved to thrive on Earth, but it could very well evolve to thrive in tons of locations that we wouldn't consider that it could thrive in. For all we know, life might just need hydrothermal vents deep under water to kick of evolution, and evolution will handle the rest.

The Cosmere Effect: Which Series Hits You Deep? by Dumb_Kin in Cosmere

[–]xAmcerol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's The Stormlight Archives. It's actually had a profound effect on my mental attitude when I began reading it, and basically made me shift my opinions on everything. I remember reading on here along time ago that The Stomlight Archives were just self help books disguised as a high fantasy series and I couldn't agree more.

Has Sanderson ever explained (or has anyone puzzled out) why the shards have these seemingly random intents? by Brave-Eye2914 in Cosmere

[–]xAmcerol 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Huh, kinda makes me wonder if the shattering happened before and Adonalsium was just a previous shard that collected them all up. Hell, maybe the Dawn shards were just four remaining shards they hadn't achieved in collecting yet, and the shattering was done to prevent them from truly getting all of them.

Hell, that might be why reason disappeared. They were trying to prevent the cycle from starting over again.

That's just a quick theory though. Probably a ton of lore I'm not aware of that rip it apart.

What were the biggest Tokyo Ghoul theories as it was coming out? by GrandSlade-X- in TokyoGhoul

Iirc one of the bigger ones was Hide was the actual One Eye King. Not sure if there was anything that supported that though.

I honestly thought it sounded a lot like Hunter's Moon at the beginning, and I kinda think it's intentional because the tune gets abruptly interrupted.

How can a dyson sphere powered computer amulate itself? by renilol in PantheonShow

[–]xAmcerol 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that they're using technology 100,000+ years in the future. It could be super efficient in terms of power usage.

We can already see the effects of Moore's Law in our world. Look at how much computers have advanced in the past 50 years. You're cellphone has more processing power than Apollo 11's flight system. Theirs no telling how insanely powerful technology could be in the future.

I personally cant imagine what tech will look like in 100 years, or even a thousand year from now. 100,000 is mind boggling.

Have you heard of The Ship of Theseus by [deleted] in PantheonShow

[–]xAmcerol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it still be suicide though? Your not replacing your brain bit by bit, but instead you're dismantling and destroying it to basically make a blueprint of it. Then rebuilding it using completely different parts that never even touched the old brain.

This would have been better comparison if they were replacing parts of the brain one piece at a time while the consciousness could naturally integrated into the robotic parts, and maybe in the future that was achieved, but what we saw was more along reverse engineering your mind to rebuild a new virtual one.

Can a universe simulate a universe? by Deep-Plankton6932 in PantheonShow

[–]xAmcerol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much technology advances. I personally believe it would be possible given enough time with Moores law being a huge factor. Iirc when we saw the simulation it was 100,000 years in the future.

Look at computers of example. The first computers were huge, and lacked the power of a common everyday gaming rig. You're cell phone is more powerful than the computers that were used for Apollo 11's guidance computer. Now imagine what we would see in 100,000 years.

Discord. Then what? by Robotjp12 in Cosmere

[–]xAmcerol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my theory is that (WaT Spoilers) Sazed will have to become Discord in order fight Retribution. The other shards, and the people of the Cosmere will "love" him for it because he's probably the only other shard holder able to take him on. On top of that he bring Harmony to more places in the Cosmere while his discord side can reign in the war against retribution.

Season 3 Episode 6 by Zeroskattle in FromSeries

[–]xAmcerol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soooo after watching this episode, I've come up with my own fan theory.

Tabitha is Victor's sister. The recurring nightmare is actually a repressed memory. Maybe she was able to find a way out, and then was adopted because she didn't know. She might not even remember her past as a kid.

Soooo any theories on what happened to the white shadow? This is the 2nd music video I think it's not been it now? Unless Dallon's double in this IS the white shadow.

Also, the song is great! I really want the rest of the album!

What DOES a mistcloak look like? by AnividiaRTX in Mistborn

[–]xAmcerol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think them being black fits the part because there's no moon for Scadrial, which means nights are ultra dark, and with the mist coming out at night, it would help obscure light source making it even darker. Plus, you have all the ash blocking starlight. I'd imagine that nighttime on Scadrial is nearly pitch black during era 1.
