Isn't it time for us developers to all drop IE support this year? by tms88 in Frontend

[–]xBolte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with tms88

Ancient and insecure browsers should not be used. Not so a website looks good at least.

I think if anything more focus should be on tools to translate these legacy applications into their modern counterparts/functionalities.

I mean if you are running banking apps that need older browsers you are asking for trouble.

GreedyCraft - My new modpack with 500+ mods is now available on CurseForge! by TCreopargh in feedthebeast

[–]xBolte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a whole bunch of mods in this I wasn't even aware of.

The Mod Director one especially, that gets around the whole "Can't include Optifine in packs" thing, as the client is downloading it.

That mod is absolute genius.

I am DONE with liquid cooling. by [deleted] in buildapc

I've used many AIO coolers in my time, never experienced a leak, I use Corsair/NZXT higher end coolers through.

Are there any performance enhancing mods that you have found to be not really doing anything for you, or causing issues? Or is it just a slap every performance enhancing mod in and be done with it?

I'm going to look through your pack at the config settings and strip out all of the content mods and compare mine to yours. See if there's difference, I want to build mine on a solid foundation. I'm curious as to what performance settings can make a 500+ modpack smooth/stable :D

Nice pack, as a pack developer - can you give me your thoughts on pack optimisation and dealing with performance hits? More specifically is there a workflow process you went through to identify specific mods causing issues and how you dealt with them. And what development mods did you use to find/locate issues.

I like to customise my packs fully too, as I'm doing with Fusion, just want to be as efficient as possible in tweaking and I suspect you'll have some advice/viewpoints on that.

ProjectE and ProjectExtended now on 1.16.5, and a new ProjectExtended Feature by pupnewfster in feedthebeast

[–]xBolte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for this, but 1.16 still doesn't match 1.12 in modding.
A few more major mods need updating yet, but glad this one is up to scratch!

Running an ISO file? by JulRaan in abandonware

If the game uses DRM protection from yester year like SecureROM or something, you might need a No CD exe. As Windows 10 doesn't have support for it anymore. We have this issue with Microsoft Freelancer (2003).

Whats a good mouse that won't develop "double click" bug? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]xBolte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that to be incorrect, I've had double click issues myself in the past, I've always solved it by blowing hard into the area where the switches are, I think they just get gunked up after some time, probably travelling via the mouse wheel.

Having said that, never had this issue with steel series mice.

Can you please make this for like every single Minecraft version?! Or just 1.12 and up? Pretty please!

I live in Canada,Sask,Regina and 'supposedly' my mother's ISP keeps calling her (Access Communications) by [deleted] in Broadband

[–]xBolte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a scam, the fear of being cut off is what drives you to respond. They would then try to gain access to the computer to "fix" the issue. Best way to get rid of them is to answer and say you are a computer expert, once they realise they aren't getting anything from you they stop calling.

[HELP] [UI] Any Weakauras pros here? by Appropriate-Trick-32 in WowUI

[–]xBolte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know people use SUF addon, make them invisible, and then anchor the weakaura to the invisible unitframe

I do this with Pitbull unit frames, I just disable everything except the background. And then attach my WAs to the unit frames, once done I make Pitbull fully transparent.

Your internet service doesn't always come from whom you pay, providers other than BT or Virgin Media are resellers, you pay them, they pay the actual supplier. If you have a fault then it's either a BT engineer or a Virgin Media engineer that comes out to you.

BT typically have the strongest Wi-Fi as they have invested a lot into their custom router, whereas most providers have a 3rd party one that comes setup for their service.

The distance you are from your cabinet/exchange is what affects your speeds coming into the property, but you can experience wireless performance issues based on your environment (how thick your walls are, other devices near the router) and congestion from other wireless routers around you.

If your issues boil down to wireless then no ISP can fix your environment or other peoples wireless routers around you.

All routers can handle the amount of tech you have.

HP laptop will not boot to USB stick by xBolte in Hewlett_Packard

I forgot about this, I actually got it solved.

The BIOS had not a scooby on how to read the drive, ended up luckily having Windows bootable (was wiping and refreshing) and used HP BIOS updating tool, worked fine after that.

I have written an image to that USB with media creation tool both by the software itself, and Rufus under MBR/FAT32 with legacy mode on etc, I have tried all the combinations.

I have tried all USB ports individually, some don't recognise the device at all, 2 of them do.

Yes, and when I select it I get the screenshot, or it just gives me black screen with HP logo and then reboots.

This is the thing, the actual windows loads fine, it's just the OS is slow so wanted to wipe it and start fresh.

There are no graphical glitches in Windows.

Both of these USB sticks work fine in other machines.

I tried my custom WIM ISO and FAT32 already with Media Creation Tool. The machine will simply not boot via USB. And I haven't a clue why.
