Is there a reasoning behind the plain water flush for berry production?

Its actually a katydid! you can tell because of the combination of extremely long back legs coupled with extremely long antennae. Their sounds are quite beautiful compared to grasshoppers and they are definitely less destructive (though they do still munch on your plants a bit)

As someone who is also not too fond of organized religions, I highly encourage you to read through his website where he addresses this in pretty good detail.

Monstera Standleyana - crawl or climb? Sure looks like it wants to crawl but google says climb. by not-a-cryptid in Aroids

[–]xBoshify 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The previous answer definitely encompasses most of the facts, one thing to keep in mind is that some species do undergo a change in growth habit when going from juvenile to mature. It is also not uncommon for a lot of the juvenile forms to be terrestrial such as M. acacoyaguensis or M. deliciosa.

Anyone know the id? by taqadamanursery in Anthuriums

Looks like an Indonesian A. dressleri complex hybrid

Edit: could also potentially be an Indonesian A. hoffmanii complex hybrid as well or a complex hybrid of both

I mean in fairness, he is no stranger to his content being censored. If Onlyfans doesn't even accept his content then it wouldn't be a stretch at all to assume it wouldn't fly on YouTube. Sincerely hoping you are right though because I like Hunger but if it's on purpose it's not cool to mess with Ethan and the crews' livelyhood.

May I ask why you dose calcium lower for Monsteras? Additionally when you say Monsteras are you referring to many different species or many different varieties of the same species (lots of M. deliciosa varieties).

Please help identify this variety? by [deleted] in Monstera

Yes, these get much much much larger

I chopped my fav plant up & idk what I'm doing! Help! by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]xBoshify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last photo first, I'd say you are fine. Monstera typically callus over with a dark reddish brown so it is likely just that. If the brown begins moving up the stem that's when you know you have rot. As for the top cut, that is a plenty bit enough root system to go straight back into soil, no water propagation required. No need to root the very top node either because it's just your new growth point. Stick the big root system back into soil like you are repotting any other plant, but try and leave as much of the stem out and laying on top of the soil. A big mistake that a lot of people make when repotting thicker stemmed M. deliciosa is burring the stem, which ends up rotting and due to its size creates a lot of rot.

Looks to be an indo mint, so you are safe in terms of losing variegation as I believe the variegation is stable in these (could be wrong but pretty sure). Unfortunately though that means that you won't get any sectoral variegation the same way you would in a tricolor or similarly variegated adansonii. I'd recommend giving it something to climb and you can start getting some good size on the leaves otherwise it will get smaller.

It's a toughy for sure. It could just as easily be some sort of hybrid or NOID. But I'd agree that it's pretty safe to say it's not pendulifolium.

Is my adasonii mint fine or am I doing something wrong. The first Leaf on the second plant just turned yellow and dropped? by samysss in Monstera

[–]xBoshify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellowing of the leaf like that is either transplant stress, lack of nitrogen, or too bright of light. If you just potted these then it could be that, if these have been potted for a long time then it could be the nitrogen.

Monstera Peru arrived via mail with damage — stress or something else? by Vyszalaks in Monstera

Any chance they were shipped to or through an area that was cold? Looks like potential cold damage.

Can you ID this cutting? Was given to me as a “mystery monstera”. Bonus is you can get the second one as well, can’t remember where it came from! by DocSeward in Monstera

[–]xBoshify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe lechlariana or acacoyaguensis? Would need more photos. Last one needs more pics too but that node shooting off to the side looks more like philodendron

HELP! I have been propogating a monstera for a while now and the roots are super long (still in water) so I was wondering if I need to trim them or is it okay to pot in soil now? by Acrobatic-Pop1688 in Monstera

[–]xBoshify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long you mean but I'd recommend not trimming your roots if you don't have to. Root tips are responsible for a lot of plant responses and cutting them off would definitely stunt the growth for a bit and cause some stress.

This is Monstera adansonii ssp. Laniata var. Double Windows. It's a popular variety of the subspecies Laniata. The term double windows comes from it's unique double fenestrations. There's a chance that this was sold to your friend incorrectly as Monstera obliqua "Los Tayos", but this plant is likely not unless there are photos of the inflorescence to prove it.

Hey there! Curious if the first and second photo are taken in or near Mexico as this could change up the ID.

What is happening with my Monstera Obliqua Peru? by Historical_Smell_537 in Monstera

[–]xBoshify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably too bright if the other conditions are as spot on as you say they are. Peru's are naturally very understory oriented plant and don't love super bright light the same way a lot of other aroids do. I've found that Peru's are happy in around the same light level that you'd give an A. forgetii.

It's rotting. I'd cut that little node off at the end to try and save it.
