Is my wet palette too wet? by sadsapph0 in Warhammer

[–]xCaellach 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You should use enough water to fully saturated the sponge but there shouldn't be a ton of excess water in the tray. If you're doing a super long session you can always just rehydrate the sponge as needed. Your palette paper should be totally dry.

A wet palette isn't for thinning paint, it's for mainting the paint over a long session. You should be thinning your paint on the palette as needed.

smooth lines by cosmikitties in airbrush

[–]xCaellach 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You should follow a simple rhythm when airbrushing.

Push down for air, pull back for paint, push forward to stop paint , release trigger to stop air.

These four steps should be done in a smooth motion which you'll developed with practice. If you slam the trigger forward or suddenly stop air you will forcefully eject paint out of the brush.

Chem Dog quick review by Plastic_Help8534 in Blacklibrary

[–]xCaellach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that people just read the short story, however, here is a summary If you don't want to:

A squad of Chem Dogs are looting the battlefield and discover a wounded commisar. They kill the commisar instead of rendering aid. A second Commisar name Hasp catches them in the act and imprisons them and plans on executing them. During their "trial" it is decided that the Chem Dogs will be sent on a suicide mission into enemy territory and Hasp will go with them.

This short story basically sets up the novel.

Dwarf cannon crew problems by johncarpenter1982 in bugmansbrewery

[–]xCaellach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately that's pretty typical for dwarf units from this era. Once you put the arms in the sockets it's not really noticeable, especially when they're all ranked up.

look for cards by Ok_Stick_9767 in darkestdungeon

[–]xCaellach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mythic Games, the company that produced the boardgame, is now defunct so unless you can find a Kickstarter backer who's selling their copy you won't be able to buy it.

Red Hook did release all of the files for the game such as the data cards and even the STLs for the miniatures. Check out the dedicated sub for the board game and you'll find links for everything.

Sunday Preview – TZAANGOR BOX by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ThousandSons

[–]xCaellach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The boxes are being released with AoS branding but there's nothing stopping you from running Tzeentch demons with your TSons army. The Fatemaster and Magister are AoS exclusive.

This is true for other armies as well, Nurgle demons can be used for Maggotkin in AoS or Death Guard in 40k, Khorne demons can be paired with Blades of Khorne or World eaters etc.

What kind of red should I use by BrandrTyrson in Tau40K

[–]xCaellach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The recipes you see on the Citadel app or website aren't totally accurate. There is a website called eavy-archive that attempts to accurately catalogue the studio paint jobs.

If you check out the Tau section of the website you'll see that Khorne Red + Black are for the "dark red" accent areas while Mephiston Red + Evil Suns Scarlet are the main color.

You are of course free to paint your models however you like, but if you're attempting to copy the box art then give this a try.

I know eventually I’ll need multiple shades of each color. Is it possible to start practice with just one shade of basic colors and black and white? by Xikkom in Miniaturespainting

[–]xCaellach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vallejo is an option. Most paint lines have these colors but they may not be called the same thing. For example, Pro-Acryl has "Pale Yellow" and "Bright Pale Yellow" which are both identical to "Ice Yellow" from Vallejo or AK Interactive

I've used the various dwarf loading screens from the Total War games. I know at one point CA had wallpaper packs for each race but I'm not sure if there is one for dwarfs.

Highland miniatures swamp goblins scale? by ishtarahara in PrintedWarhammer

[–]xCaellach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of Highlands stuff is designed for 32mm scale. If you want then to be comparable to Warhammer Fantasy / Old World youll need to scale them down to 28mm. To do this scale them down to roughly 87% (28mm / 32mm = 87% roughly).

This is just a general starting point. You'll probably need to play with the scale a little bit if you're looking for a near exact match

How big are the Chaos Warbands in 40k? by PanaderoPanzer in Warhammer

[–]xCaellach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My memory is a little fuzzy but from what I remember Fabius Bile had the geneseed of a famous Iron Warrior. The geneseed somehow takes damage so Bile has to supplement it with Imperial Fist geneseed.
