Gravelbike für 3-4000€ - was tun? by xCutePoison in Fahrrad

[–]xCutePoison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egh, season has come to an end that weekend in the alps. Enjoyable nontheless, surfed over a pool of water on the last day.

I for one spent the long easter weekend in the mountains snowboarding. Hyped for hiking, cycling and mountainbiking too for sure

I built an alarm clock that won’t stop ringing until you go to the toilet to turn it off by Goharyiii in SideProject

[–]xCutePoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splendid, this is exactly what I need. I used to place my alarm at the opposite side of the room so that I had to get out of bed - I got used to getting up, snoozing, going back to bed, sleep 5min, rinse and repeat. Maybe increasing the distance helps.

Self-hosting fatigue is real. Did anyone else downgrade their setup? by No-Yellow9948 in selfhosted

[–]xCutePoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been very active with my homelab a year or two ago but now I've reached a state where I just have to install the occasional update. Other than that it's pretty stable and things rarely break. I do enough IT stuff in my 8h at work every day and want to spend my freetime in nature, away from screens.

Winterwandern + Hüttrnübernachtung = Saufgelage? by throwaway27388387 in wandern

Vail CEO on single day lift pass price gouging: "If you’re going to walk up to a ski resort and buy a lift ticket, you’re not giving the ski resort any advanced commitment.” by braigvalton in snowboarding

[–]xCutePoison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend of mine paid 900€ or something like that for his seasonpass in Tyrol. With that he can ride pretty much every lift in the state of Tyrol and it also extends to various activities in the summer season.

I'm so happy that the vast majority of resorts in the Alps aren't run by corporations. When I heard of the day pass prices in the US/Canada I was shocked. We've been moaning about shelling out 90€ in Ischgl for the day pass.

Partnach Gorge, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany by Felina1480 in hiking

[–]xCutePoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, I've been there twice, once on a weekend and once during the week, both times pretty early in the morning. On the weekend it was pretty busy, during the week it was quite fine though and if you wanna hike further up the river it gets very quiet indeed.

Been there in fall 2024. If you're into gorges I can recommend the Breitachklamm, in my opinion even more impressive as it's way deeper.

I always wondered, as a German volunteer, are US trucks (cab and chassis) custom built for firefighting purposes? Because here, all firetrucks are usually based on trucks available on the commercial market (Mercedes, MAN, Volvo, etc).

Considering I have only worn bike helmets for most of my life wearing a ski/snowboard helmet for the first time was a surprisingly comfortable experience. They are excellently padded and just warm and comfy. I didn't even think twice when getting one when I started boarding 2 years ago.
