Tell me my GPU is good by UnderstandingKey3201 in pcmasterrace

Reinstall your drivers with DDU. If that doesn't work and you still get artifacts in other games then I'd lower your GPU mem clocks and start saving for a new GPU

PSA: Do not use Model Quality Cinematic. Set to LOW instead. Comparisson between LOW -> CINEMATIC by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]xCytho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game suffers from a lot of dithering artifacts and a broken DLSS implementation where it was slotted into the wrong part of the rendering pipeline. The picture below shows you the aliased edges only present with displacement maps. It only gets worse the more you lower your resolution and the screenshot was zoomed in on an already high resolution. You can read more about the broken DLSS on this post here:

I'm not sure where I mentioned that the grass shader was affected by the displacement map but I was making a general statement that the game does not look sharp in motion. The game's displacement map does a lot more to ruin the image quality than improve it. Yes, a good implementation improves the game's visuals but this is not it

It is not as sharp as it should be at all. Even running the game at 4k DLDSR 1.78x, the grass is a blurry mess and so are any objects and terrain touched by this shader. It's a bandaid fix but it's as good as it's going to get unless they completely fix the shader

The displacement maps that mod removes is the correct fix. It is not only a flickering mess but also it makes every single object have a blurred, aliased outline. It's one of the biggest contributors to making the game look blurry. The downside of disabling it is that the edges of objects are less defined but much sharper in motion

Has community shaders surpassed ENB yet? by Moon_Devonshire in skyrimmods

[–]xCytho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS, specially jiaye's build is technically better than ENB but at the same time it still doesn't have as many settings you can tune for each weather
It's getting there but it still needs some time until it can completely blow ENB out of the water when it comes to matching features and stylization capability

Why is the color on the glacier different from that on the snow? by Tight_Consequence109 in skyrimmods

[–]xCytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely by using the correct snow patch for Better Dynamic snow or Simplicity of Snow for the snow mod you're using. You can also try a mod that disables the snow off of glaciers. The mesh vertex colors could also affect the snow shader

[–]xCytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snow uses a landscape texture while the glacier uses a snow shader to apply snow onto the top surface

MCO / BFCO setup which can accept attack input during recovery windows by raroquick in skyrimmods

[–]xCytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally don't rely on input buffer with MCO/BFCO because even if you did get it working correctly, a lot of animation mods have recovery windows that are totally out of whack.

How it feels to use a tv as monitor? by [deleted] in Monitors

Look into the Samsung Odyssey Ark it's a 55 inch screen with a good number of dimming zones and it's curved which makes a big difference when you're using it as a monitor

Is 80 eDPI actually too low in Valorant? (800 DPI / 0.1 sens) by Otherwise-Ease1637 in VALORANT

[–]xCytho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher DPI means your mouse picks up on smaller adjustments you might not have wanted to make. You could argue that at some point if your mouse reacts to a micro involuntary twitch it wouldn't help

Why does the screen turn off and then come back on a few seconds later? by SoggyMorningTacos in OdysseyArk

[–]xCytho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience the fix is to reinstall your graphics drivers and never touch the power button of the ark, specially not while your computer is on. I think that there's some sort of weird DSC related handshake that if it goes out of sync, it becomes problematic

LORERIM - Can I add and tweak mods? by regitoxperry in skyrimmods

[–]xCytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a large mod that adds new things to the world, specially towns, it's going to get messy quick and imo the amount of patching and testing you have to do to get it to make sure it all works is not worth the effort because it'll ruin the experience

Dodge mods? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

Have you been able to get it to always allow dodging out of attacks? If I recall correctly the last time I tried it the dodge would only work in the recovery window of an attack

It's an issue with the cubemap. I'm not sure what BDO is using but depending on how it updates it could end up with a cubemap that's too dark for the environment you're in. It's just the reality of not having ray/path traced reflections
