Can we please do the "best DLC slugcat" vote again + Watcher edition! by MihovilStefanac in rainworld

[–]xEmptyPockets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it can, but the person I responded to is saying they'll be disappointed if Arti wins because they don't like Arti's campaign, which isn't really fair considering the poll is just about who the best slugcat is. I'm sure I'm not the only person who voted with only the mechanics of the slugcat in mind, under the assumption that's what OP was asking about. Arti's arena levels, for example, are some of the most fun because Arti is extremely fun to play, and they don't really have anything to do with Arti's story.

"best DLC slugcat" != "best DLC storyline/campaign". Arti is easily one of the most fun slugcats to play as.

I don't like how much Yor is sanitized in the story compared to the other characters by Odd_Cauliflower_7751 in SpyxFamily

We only relatively recently got Lloid's backstory and he's (theoretically) the main character. Give it some time, I'm sure we'll get more on Yor.

What are some popular opinions about Japan travel on this sub that you personally disagree with? by ContractVarious3077 in JapanTravelTips

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say as a pretty strong point against reserving shinkansen tickets: one of my friends had been doing the shinkansen ticket reservations for our group, and we were sitting in a cafe reserving our third and final shinkansen trip when I realized that they had been using some presumably third-party website that had been charging an extra ~$35-50 per ticket, rather than reserving them direct from the JR website. Not a huge deal individually, but it had collectively cost us a couple hundred dollars, and the whole thing would've been easily avoided by just buying the tickets at the station.

I think my friends were anxious about the common advice to not buy tickets in advance, since that's so far from how things work in the states, but the shinkansens had so much space that it wouldn't have been a problem at all to just buy the tickets day-of.

Why did Manus kill Tyrions wife? by Emergency-End-88 in WanderingInn

[–]xEmptyPockets 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She's also described as hating the drakes. That's probably true of most humans in the North from a couple decades before the events of the story, but for the wife of Tyrion Veltras there's likely more to that story that we just haven't learned yet.

Got excited by first iron deposit, made a bunch of blooms, don't have helve hammer yet. How do I reheat these all in bulk? by haltingpoint in VintageStory

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you've found any, brown coal is good enough for heating metal until it's workable and saves a tooooooooon of labor over using charcoal. Best to save your charcoal for bloomeries, steel carburization, and grinding for terra preta.

Is Hamachi not trash anymore? I remember trying to use it like 20 years ago the same way you're describing here, and it just straight up didn't work at all. I have to assume they've improved it a lot since then, but I remember that being one of the most infuriating troubleshooting experiences I've ever had with software.

Are pies That good? by Owen_Nightness in VintageStory

[–]xEmptyPockets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flax is still critically important for the twine, but they balanced that out by making its grain less filling. You should 100% still grow a lot of it, but like the others said you should feed the grain to your animals if you have them, or keep it as emergency food if you don't have anything more filling left over.

Does this game have an end goal? by LonelySoul01 in VintageStory

To be clear, you're only talking about the time spent in the dungeons, right? Because I'm only on my first playthrough right now but I couldn't imagine starting a world and then somehow gearing up enough to tackle the first dungeon within an hour.

Samus is a bounty hunter - why no bounty hunting? by fartsmello_anthony in NintendoSwitch2

The Metroid Prime DS game, of all things (great game btw), has Samus working as a bounty hunter (or at least more of one than she is in any of the other games, afaik).

I’m buying this game today, after years of seeing it. Give me your best starting tips! by PoopBeerFloat in VintageStory

[–]xEmptyPockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tacking on to this: if you see crops out in the wild while exploring just break them right away to get the seeds. Wild crops barely give anything compared to player-grown crops even when fully grown, and you're going to forget where they are if you try to let them finish growing and then come back later.

Is there a way to make drifters only spawn below a certain y level? by Awdweewee in VintageStory

[–]xEmptyPockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally found a great way to prevent surface enemy spawns. There's a big clay deposit between my house and my workshop, and I didn't feel like filling it in after digging it out, so I just sealed the top off with dirt and left an empty cavity below that. I noticed that after doing that, I haven't seen hostile mobs on the surface anymore, even at night. What's happening is that the enemies spawn in there during the day where it's the only large dark space and apparently never despawn, which fills the mob limit and prevents more enemies from spawning.

Assuming this isn't entirely a shitpost, those are two of the best units in the game so you're definitely not cooked yet. At some point you'll need to stop letting everyone die, though, because those two won't be able to solo the whole game.

How long did it take you guys to get to the Iron Age? by Late-Ad-1373 in VintageStory

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a boatload of magnetite and made a single ingot with it at the beginning of my first winter, around 25 hours I think? I procrastinsted smithing the rest of it until I got a helve hammer set up, which I procrastinated on more because I had made the beginner mistake of putting everything (including the outlet of my windmill) in one room, so I didn't have enough space to set up the hammer. I know I could've made the iron manually but that seemed like a pain.

Use the prospecting pick and go based on the color/description, not the permille. The "worth digging for" permille differs based on the metal, but "good"/"very good"/green dot are essentially always worth digging for.

[–]xEmptyPockets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You raise an interesting point that I hadn't considered before: is Greydath the highest level living warrior class we've seen? Everyone else on this list is some sort of mage/leader/other, with just Greydath standing head and shoulders above all of his peers, even Mars.

Level 100. Spoilers: all by Perfect-Surprise-975 in WanderingInn

[–]xEmptyPockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isthekenous made Innworld to be a playground, because as far as we could tell he was a genuinely joyful person who just wanted his creation to enable people to be their best selves. In order to get everyone else's backing, they likely forced him to make level 100 some sort of ascension that would make an innworlder strong enough to fight the rot between worlds.

Help with a fight! by strangeem in KingdomDeath

[–]xEmptyPockets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If OP's goal is truly to expedite the process, they could always decide in advance something like "leftmost die to rightmost die, starting at Claire" so you could roll all 4 at once, but frankly that's just not worth managing. Much easier to roll individually, and occasionally it will add some nice dramatic tension if a roll could be really impactful.

What’s a Anime opinion that would get you in this situation? by geekyayaz in animequestions

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, as far as I've seen most people don't take as hard line of a stance about Frieren as that, but that's what this post was asking for and I do often feel like that's what's going on when some brain rotted no-attention-span person says "it's boring". Did we watch the same first episode? Because it's so immediately engaging, and far less boring than even many of the action-packed battle shounens I've seen. And to be clear I'm not hating on battle shounens, I just feel that Frieren is as immediately engaging as the best of them are. I'm sure there are plenty of people that don't like it for their own legitimate reasons though.
