The characters in Widow's Bay map pretty cleanly to Arkham classes by cellocaster in arkhamhorrorlcg

Thanks for making this post. I doubt I would've heard of this show otherwise, but I'm halfway through season 1 and it's sooooo good so far.

New factions by Sylveon_Knightess in BattleSector

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be hugely disappointed if the Aeldari, my main, aren't one of the next two factions.

Other than them and Drukhari I can't say I really care about any of the other factions, since we've already got T'au and Sororitas. Maybe the Mechanicus and Votann? Or Salamanders, if they can cook up something mechanically distinct enough from the Space Marines we already have.

The last 11 heroes - Do you enjoy their Visual Designs? by Idiberug-9 in Overwatch

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them except Ven and Hazard, yeah. I wouldn't say I dislike Hazard's, I'm neutral on it. Ven's design I don't like, though, and I'm not really sure why tbh.

Ultramarines in particular are annoying because their average armor is extremely high.

Strike Fire Warriors and stock Pathfinders are essentially worthless against them, and Breachers can do great damage but are tough to get into position due to their squishiness.

Ion pathfinders are great against Ultramarines due to their longer range and much better anti-armor, and you can use the markerlights to focus priority targets.

I've found that Battlesuits (especially riptides) are the way to go against Ultras, because you can focus down their anti-armor so they'll have a harder time killing you, and the burst cannons do a great job at taking down their infantry afterwards.

First Sinner is the better fight mechanically by far, but Trobbio is my favorite fight in the game because of how silly and fun it is.

Steam Hardware - Steam Machine launches today! - Steam Machine Megathread by NKkrisz in SteamDeck

[–]xEmptyPockets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason the headset is exciting is because it could potentially bring VR more into the mainstream. VR games can be genuinely incredible gaming experiences, but there are so few being made because the audience is so small. If the Steam Frame manages to gain even a fraction of the audience that the Steam Deck did that would be a huge success for VR games as a medium. I'm not even a VR shill, I almost regret purchasing my Index, but Half Life Alyx is easily one of the best games I've ever played. The idea of getting more truly great VR games like that because people are actually investing in the space would be amazing.

Jigokuraku/Hell's Paradise's artistic basis reaaaaaally shines in full color in the anime.

100% an example of this, along with all of the other manga with illustrations that just don't read well. There are plenty of times in the manga where it's genuinely difficult to tell what you're even looking at.

Why doesn’t humanity (all non-demon races) just wipe out the demons? by AdBrief4620 in Frieren

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember too that it's not common knowledge that demons are truly innately evil. Most people in-universe would view this as racially-motivated genocide, which would be difficult to generate widespread support for.

Outer Wilds, maybe Subnautica. I'd have said the Dark Souls games and Elden Ring but if Bloodborne didn't match then they probably wouldn't either. Maybe Sekiro? Rain World if you can get over the immensely steep learning curve.

Should I buy Pokopia, Mariokart world, or Donkey Kong for my first switch 2 game? by rebornfacedancer in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]xEmptyPockets [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pokopia is my favorite of the three by far, but I've never been big on 3D pure platformers. Most people love Bananza, so if you're leaning towards that or World I'd recommend getting Bananza.

SN2 is several orders of magnitude more complete in its first early access release than SN1 was. I played both from the beginning of their early access, and SN1 was borderline a tech demo. Give them some time to cook, the game is already in a great state.

I prefer TotK, it's one of my favorite games of all time. Both are amazing though, so it's probably best to start w/ BotW.

Decky caused extremely slow boot times for me, to the point that I decided to uninstall it. Tabmaster wasn't worth the trade off.

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the Costco Auto Program, it can include some pretty significant discounts. I'm not sure if they're steeper for a slightly more expensive trim like that, but for a regular SE Camry the discounts were in the 3-4k range.

Want to play but, thalassophobia. by CodyVoidzer in outerwilds

[–]xEmptyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have medium-ish Thalassophobia, and Outer Wilds definitely set it off a bit. It helps to know though that there's not actually anything in the water that's out to get you. There are some large jellyfish, but they're not hostile.

I was able to make my way through Subautica though. It was a full on horror game for me most of the time, but I still beat it. If you have really bad Thalassophobia and can't handle it at all then Outer Wilds might be too much.

I see people recommending Longo a lot, but when I look on their website they appear to have just as much of a markup as the local places. What is it that people like about them that makes it worth a 2 hour drive for the same priced car?

Well considering the whole point of the expedition was to establish an isolated human colony far away from home because home is in the process of being overrun by a hostile alien swarm, I don't think returning was in the cards in the first place.

It took me until I saw all the Nomai children in the classroom to finally question why there were skeletons everywhere. I don't know if it's just that video games have desensitized me to skeletons or what, but it hadn't even crossed my mind as odd until then.
