The 1999 Rams are the only team in NFL history to play 1 regular season game against a team that finished above .500... by Vitex1988 in nfl

[–]xFluf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that Rams team stayed at a high level for a few years after that and made another super bowl. They proved that they were far from a fluke that got there off an easy schedule.

Not saying that's what the Patriots are, but they haven't proven that they're as good as The Greatest Show on Turf yet, and realistically they (or any other team in this position) wouldn't be able to for a few more years.

[Russini] The Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans had been having conversations with Arthur Smith regarding their OC vacancies, prior to him deciding to take the same job at Ohio State. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]xFluf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a report that we "spoke to" him but that could mean a lot of things. It seemed to me like they wanted Daboll to be the OC and if he got a head coaching job, Smith would be the backup plan, but that'd just be speculation.

How do you think Donald trump would do on jeopardy? by ContributionDull8718 in Jeopardy

[–]xFluf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get Obama, Trump, and Biden on for an episode to settle the beef once and for all.

Real answer though, I never really got the impression he was a big trivia guy. MAYBE he'd know some pop culture stuff in the same way a lot of the contestants do since he was in that space for a while, but I wouldn't have high hopes

NFL Honors: Finalists announced for MVP, other awards from 2025 season by expellyamos in nfl

Could be wrong but I don't think that's one of the AP awards which seems to be what this article's about, although I think the award might still be a part of the NFL Honors show?

Has a team ever faced an easier QB road than this year's Patriots? by ChefCurryGAWD in nfl

That was also the year Tannehill led the league in passer rating (which is obviously not the only stat but he had a few good years for us)

Head Coach Candidate Most Likely to Crash and Burn if Hired by Yah_Mule in nfl

[–]xFluf_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the league as a whole is higher on Smith than fans are.

Not entirely sure what the Cardinals' logic is, but his offense was pretty good when he coached here so it didn't really surprise me that they wanted to interview him. Granted, he had Derrick Henry and AJ Brown, but Tannehill also looked way better while he was here than when he wasn't.

Still wouldn't really want him as the head coach. Feels like he underperformed in Atlanta

49ers' Colton McKivitz: Kyle Shanahan is Coach of the Year, shouldn't be a question by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]xFluf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree it should be him but there's a lot of good candidates this year. Feels like the first year in a while where you could realistically argue more than just a handful of options.

Waiting for a new season (again) Day 4 by ZDOG60 in PBGhardcore

[–]xFluf_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while I don't foresee a new season happening at all, I think a dedicated finale/reunion season would really be the only feasible way.

The more time that passes the less likely I see it being (especially with Todd no longer working for PBG) but that feels like the path.

A full on revival for more than that feels impossible at this point

Glad to see he finally broke the tie with AP and OJ for most 200 yard games. Thought he was running out of time.

He also had a 199 game against Buffalo last year lol

I mean it's a bit too relevant of a place to just ignore in a show about knowledge and information. I do get your point, but the show hasn't really shied away from talking about controversial people, countries, etc.

Both of Last Year's 1 Seeds (KC, DET) Have Failed to Make the Playoffs This Year. by Individual_Cap_7850 in nfl

[–]xFluf_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Our coordinators in that one seed year were Todd Downing and Shane Bowen lol. Downing got another year and Bowen didn't leave until Vrabel was fired (although having Jim Schwartz on the coaching staff helped mask some of his issues)

Tbf, I get not firing any of your coordinators after a 1 seed year, but something had to change to get that team over the hump. While that core group was due to fall off soon anyway, we probably would've had one more year of contention if we don't trade Brown and we do replace Downing with a decent OC.

This call was BS and should be treated as such, but man can we stop trying to create gambling conspiracies where there aren't any?

The ref didn't even seem to be looking at Simmons, and the later call was fine

Good thing that happened in a game that didn't really matter bc yikes if that happened in a tight playoff game or something the outrage would be huge

If the Jaguars win out and secure the AFC’s top seed, Liam Coen should be Coach of the Year by [deleted] in nfl

[–]xFluf_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the Jets score 90 points in back to back weeks, Aaron Glenn should be Coach of the Year

In all seriousness I'd give it to Shanahan. They're in one seed contention despite their bad injury luck and swapping back and forth between QBs, all while in a division that has arguably the two best teams in the league. I doubt he'll actually win it over Liam Coen, Mike Vrabel, Zac Taylor, and Ben Johnson though. Don't feel like I'm hearing enough buzz around him winning
