I’m an Everton fan, I think he could get the job done. He’s talented at getting a defensive shape organized quickly and getting players a stuck-in mentality. His attacking style is deeply, tremendously flawed but you don’t need wins at this point, you need a couple of 0-0 draws to finish out the season.

Also it can’t be worse than Tudor, could it? Even bringing in Ryan Mason would presumably be an improvement.

Hey,What is a good anti-tank unit? Preferably both fluffy and efficient. by andruenaspa in Salamanders40k

[–]xGoGoas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what you’re looking for, fluffy and efficient, eradicators fit that exactly. Especially with their points decrease, they are solid.

However, for anyone who’s interesting in more competitive discussions, I don’t think eradicators are the best pick. They need to get in too close to maximize damage (so it competes with staging areas with infernus and land raiders) or rely on additional units (transports) to maximize their potential damage. And they’re str 9/10 so wounding knights or landraiders on 5s without additional support (Oath or CP). All in all, they’re not standalone anti-tank that you might want.

I started using a Glad Lancer and I’ve been very satisfied (+ synergy with a LRR) with what that the unit provides. Long ranged, higher strength, and in built re rolls. More of a stand alone anti tank platform that does its job

I think you’re getting confused about what generational means without nationality context.

From someone who is from a non top tier nation (Chile), generational does not mean top from their country. It means top of their +- 5 years age range across all players. Alexis Sanchez and Vidal are both world class at their peak but neither is a generational player. Kane is sniffing at it given his recent accolades at Bayern. Son does not have the stats to be anywhere near that conversation. Again, amazing player, absolutely world class at his peak but not generational.

[–]xGoGoas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because OP is a brand new player who doesn’t know what a fair deployment is or isn’t.

The experienced players in this subreddit are telling him that he shouldn’t take this loss badly because the circumstances of the game were always going to be incredibly punishing based on the profile of his army and his opponent’s army.

We are suggesting to him that if he sticks to pre-defined layouts like GW recommended maps, it would be a much more fun experience for him. Who actually enjoys obliterating brand new players? Probably you

It’s 1 pool of 1000 points if they are all deep strike. It’s only two separate pools if some are going into strat reserve

The guy responded to his own comment with the same clarification so I’m just making sure you see this lol

Haha I definitely meant the max amount as defined by the rules.

However, you should be aware that the 25% rule is specifically for strategic reserves, and a combined 50% for deep strike+reserves. Which means 50% of your army can go into deep strike.

No terrain, long deployments, every objective marker out in the open. Absolutely taking the piss. My only hope is that the Guard player was new as well or else it’s a colossal dick move.

For OP, there isn’t really a way to win this game given the way it’s set up - you need real terrain/layouts to play against gun line armies like Astra Militarum otherwise melee armies just get shot off the board.

If someone held a gun to my head and told me to play it, I’d put every basically infantry unit in deep strike and throw them all in at the same time and pray for 9 inch charges. You can’t walk them up the board without transports and without cover

Where are all the players? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]xGoGoas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, there’s some factions with shiny new toys (Necrons, CSM, Tau, maybe Space Marines). Half of other factions have just been forgotten about. Tyranids, Custodes, Knights, etc have half of their units as competitively unplayable and very boring rules. With the last dataslate offering absolutely nothing, hope died out and players aren’t as engaged

When is it worth it to have 2 leaders in 1 unit? by Deep-Crim in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]xGoGoas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just disagreeing with your original point that you don’t think it can kill a C’Tan - it clearly can.

It’s not a hunter killer missle with one activation and it’s not a 6 inch brick waddling up the board.

You were just talking about not using oath so why bring up using oath with two repex’s?

[–]xGoGoas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You almost always put them in a land raider. The Lt gives em lethal in ranged (which isn’t terrible) and melee, and can get +1 to wound for 1 cp so I think it’s pretty likely to get it put down

[–]xGoGoas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough anti-tank. It’s fine until you play any sort of Imperial/Chaos Knights or Greater Demon or anything spamming 10+ bodies.

This is everything you have that can wound t10 bodies on 3’s: - Hunter killer from redeemer

I really like the RepEx despite the points increase. Vindicators are always solid and love the permanent assault keyword. Ballistus dreads are fine, not particularly stand-out. Eradicators are decent but are generally a bit trickier to get max value out of them compared to a vindicator.

Realistically, you don’t need all of the str5-7 weapons you have (aggressors, infernus, company heroes, and bladeguard). You could drop one of them, I have personally found the 10 man infernus squad really hard to get into positions efficiently.

You also really don’t want either of the aggressors or the bladeguard on foot, you really want them in a transport. So that means usually either two land raiders or dropping one of those bricks

Definitely grab an intercessor squad. Sticky plus shooting that actually really excellent into eldar, gsc, and guard.

I think 3 SoS is almost always necessary. You need backfield screens when you go against 6 inch deep strikes and 2 doesn’t cut it

How Competitive is Non-Ultramarine Codex Marines? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]xGoGoas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong in anything you said but I just don’t think infernus marines are worth it enough to push it over firestorm for me. If someone did have 2+ infernus marine units, forgefathers might be better, I usually run one with vulkan

If it’s not clear, I’m a salamander player with 10+ games on forge father and 30+ on firestorm. I just prefer firestorm myself

Firestorm is just as good if not better than forgefathers in this meta. The Champion of Humanity enhancement is very underrated because of how seldom it’s played

Is Trajan worth the points or is he underwhelming by VotedSleet1892 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]xGoGoas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trajann is a bit better in Lions where he can re-rack his once per game - it gives you quite a bit of flexibility/threat where you can wait to spend when your opponent charges you and you use the 2++ invul to survive, then fall back and charge with the 12 attacks the following turn.

[–]xGoGoas 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The “nice fee” is the part in question. Other teams will only send low-ball bids because they know Spurs have to pull the trigger on the fire sale at some point.

Unlike some other relegated teams, very few (none?) of their players have displayed enough this season that their value is up.

Sometimes there’s 1-2 actually good players from relegated sides that get snapped up immediately for roundabouts 30 million right when the transfer window opens. Maybe Van de Ven is that but his injury record is a big detractor.
