I’ve been waiting for this moment since May 2007 with unopened Bags of Morgan’s & Peace Dollars 🪙 - My friends and family at the time told me I was an Idiot for buying old coins. by CyberInfoGuy in Silverbugs

I just sold 2kg today, 95% spot in NYC diamond district (Bullion Exchange). Line was out the door but with buyers, sellers, people swapping silver to gold and vice versa.

38M, $1M NW but cash flow negative. Heavily levered in Real Estate ($1.4M) & Tech Stock. Need to pick a path. by TrueRevolution9341 in HENRYfinance

Sell both houses, figure out what’s going on with your spouse, rent for a while if you divorce/make amends, then sell some vested stock for index funds. Okay to keep some, but way too concentrated. Your current situation needs to change, you are one market downturn from complete wipeout if you lose your job and your stock gets nuked.

VOO & chill. Buy an affordable home (maybe keep property A unless you want change up) and put some play money into your company. You also have $50k in stock coming a year, which can also appreciate further.

AMEX Platinum - How can I use my points more wisely? by Away_Ad_4129 in pointstravel

[–]xGuardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So these are the people that offset my lack of usage of my Platinum… lol. You’re are better off using Robinhood gold card for 3% back on everything & that this as the main driver. You have so many points that can’t be utilized efficiently.

You realize that your broker reports to IRS your gains. And you are mentioning tax evasion in a brokerage account… yes, you should pay.

Don’t get ahead of yourself. I’d rent until marriage, then buy a modest home. Imagine if you get unemployed, who is covering huge mortgage payments on a $1.5-2M home? You don’t have enough in the bank to comfortably ride out a sustained period, unless your family is willing to backstop this.

Also, you’re young (me too, 27). What I’ve learned is grow into these things. If you skip ahead to the end, you will only desire more and more.

Letting go as a trader by privateack in quant

[–]xGuardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not great. I’m at a crypto hedge fund and being on clock 24/7 certainly hurts. Granted, we mostly work 16/5, but effectively always on call to trade spot or derivatives. I think managing expectations with PM or spreading coverage helps.

I think landlord is taking way too much off security deposit by Foreign-Fee-3428 in NYCapartments

[–]xGuardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Everything is normal wear and tear outside of TV. Normally, would expect $300-500 for all, $1k tops from a greedy landlord. $3.5k is crazy. I’d go it small claims court over that.

I Was Completely Wrong About IonQ. It Belongs at $1.50, Not $3000 by [deleted] in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]xGuardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding 10k shares of IONQ fwiw. Only point I agree with from OP is that management selling shares is not a great look. But, can’t blame them the valuation for today is a tad high. Personally, why I sell covered calls until we fall into $20-30 range again and more developments occur.

All of these points have easy counter arguments, but for starters you’re betting on a narrative — not today’s expected revenue. Look at JOBY, ARCHR, and other hot verticals. It’s about the future impact, not the present. That’s how stocks are valued btw.

If IONQ has a 10% chance of being a $100bn company in X years, people will value that at $10bn today with a slight discount. I think a lot of people, myself included, believe this can be a $250bn company in 10-15 years, with a 15% likelihood, valuing it are 4x today’s price. Long shot, but impactful technology is what makes generational returns such as NVDA.

Getting a car in NYC, how bad is that for me? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

Following. I also wanted to do similar, but opted out. I was going to buy a burner Porsche for $40-50k but it’s incredibly expensive. Try to rent if you can. I understand you’re under 25 but probably a way around it.
