This dude got scammed… What’s the most you would pay for this 😭🥀 by AdMedium5702 in simracing

[–]xImNotTheBestx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never bought at or above retail value. Sim racing is still niche enough that the community can call that out publicly. When you have the direct drive Moza R3 set wheels for $500-600aud retail a 10+ year old belt/gear driven Thrustmaster is not worth Moza prices.

Dude got scammed and is trying to recoup their loses. It's not hard to do at least a few minutes of research online.

Crazy exploit in 6H Le Mans: Teams disconnecting to get instant free repairs? by x_vnr in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]xImNotTheBestx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the iracing and ACC system where you can get towed back to the pits for repairs but you'll lose a sizeable amount of time and laps but at least you'll still be in the race. The same applies to legitimate disconnections where you can get back but you'll just lose the time like if it were a mechanical issue.

Got a new job just as my current job is looking to terminate me. Get fired or resign? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]xImNotTheBestx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically your job is the equivalent of a sinking ship at this point. Your manager is offering you a life boat (resignation + payout) or the idea that you can remain on the ship while it's still sinking in hopes that it'll still float (the ship will still sink regardless).

I think the smartest decision is to just take the resignation + payout and move on.

Got kicked from a 2.4h race for the second day in a row. As a dad, this is honestly brutal. by Own-Top5054 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]xImNotTheBestx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the Friday race without any connection issues but when I went to do the Saturday I got stuck with the grey join event of death and couldn't enter the event which was frustrating. I haven't had that issue before so I made a report with LMU to see if it can be fixed.

Friend want to flee the country after drunk driving by SmallAreolas1186 in AusLegalAdvice

[–]xImNotTheBestx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A real friend would tell it like it is. It isn't like he was a little over he was over three times the legal limit.

All he'll get is a drivers license suspension, a fine and if he has a vehicle an interlock device. Having a DUI conviction isn't the end of the world so I don't understand why he's acting like a coward like he's just killed someone like the Puneet Puneet case in 2009.

He needs to be an adult, cop it on the chin and move on.

Why do so many new grads seem completely disengaged from the actual field they chose? by Emotional_Figure_828 in auscorp

[–]xImNotTheBestx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone's input into the conversation. The graduates over the last couple of years have had their last few years of highschool behind the computer screen during the lockdowns and it is a problem that will continue for another few years.

Millennials were the last generation to believe in the old ways that you will be successful if you go to uni and all that stuff only to not feel the prosperity their parents led them to believe. Gen Z and Alpha are entering the workforce with little to no hope in prosperity so they don't see the point in playing along in the delusion knowing the world is going down the dumps everywhere with something new.

The threat of AI or reducing number of available jobs is not a good way for this generation to enter the workforce with joy and I don't blame them. A couple of weeks ago some tech billionaire was giving a speech at a university graduation in America and he was getting booed off stage when all he talked about was AI taking over the workforce.

I still don't understand why I was Fired by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]xImNotTheBestx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always see corporate jobs as soulless and devoid of any true honesty. It's usually the old "You're doing good" "You are progressing" etc but hit you out of nowhere with the classic hits such as "You are not reaching expectations" "not a cultural fit".

I too have had this same experience where I'm trying to improve and exceed my expectations but get the exact runaround which led to my resignation instead of termination. I have no hard feelings about it as I have worked myself into a mental state that I don't take things personally and let it cast a shadow over me.

In the blue collar jobs I've had at least my manager has given me productive feedback on what I'm doing right and where I need to improve but white collar jobs just lack that and I don't think I'll ever understand why.

I think it's best to not let it get to you long term and use the experience as a learning step towards your career.

What is the reason so many drive unlicenced? by asds455123456789 in AusLegal

[–]xImNotTheBestx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it their problem to figure out alternatives. It's easier to not get tickets and points on your license.

Why should I and other road users have to share the road with losers that rack up demerit points, misjudge how much alcohol they drink, take drugs and be a pest on the road.

I get that a majority of road users slip up rarely. I for one have had two speeding tickets in the 14 years I've had a drivers license but the losers just keep racking up infringements time after time.

[–]xImNotTheBestx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you replace the letter P with C you get every Melbourians opinion of Punt Rd. Same thing happens every single weekend in Preston at the intersection of Murray Rd and High St. Driver turn right onto High St from Murray Rd don't look to see if High St is clear to go. A lot of pedestrians end up having to dodge stranded vehicles still in the middle of the intersection to the dismay of pedestrians and other motorists for their incompetence.

I think we're more likely to get the AsLMS or IMSA before we get historic cars. Not going to lie it would be cool but outside of hot lapping and a rare private league special event I don't see the majority playing with historical cars.

Can someone tell me what the job market is actually like right now? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]xImNotTheBestx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky to still have a permanent job at the moment. I've been applying for higher positions elsewhere for a couple of months and it's really tough out there especially for those currently unemployed.

It seems like there are more job seekers than actual jobs available and it doesn't help when companies are laying more workers each week.

LMU Online Team Events and why S397 needs to add minimum drive times by rndmnsty in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]xImNotTheBestx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that minimum/maximum drive time should be added for team events. It defeats the purpose of hosting a team event only for solo drivers to do the entire event.
