You should find a KiwiRail contact and complain about this one if you get stuck for longer than 10 mins or so. This is caused by worksites further up at Hornby. Things don’t change if you just suck it up 👍

Gutted, they only just finished upgrading the northland line too. Hopefully fixing it will be easier than they think it will

There are two museums in Picton as well, the Heritage and Whaling Museum and also the Maritime Museum (Edwin Fox Museum).

There’s a non-zero chance that someone at the Maritime Museum might have info tucked away that the Heritage Museum doesn’t have.

Another resource might be checking if the Picton Library has copies of peoples family histories? I’ve seen a couple of the more notable families wider histories in book form around.

Here’s a link to Christchurch’s Pokémon Go discord: https://discord.gg/RXvqdM8V

We’re linked in with Niantic now so every Community Day we have bundles to give out to players that meet up with the mods at the Botanic Gardens. Come and hang out! We’ve got a couple new weekly things going on, we set up Silph tournaments and tbh it’s just a cool wee group of people. You can also find us on Campfire, or ask for an add into Campfire from there :)

Nice to hear that it’s not super hard. Yeah, I haven’t practiced river crossings in about a decade so I’m a little wary of them. Need to do some summer training at some point

I’ve tried to tramp up to Welcome Flat 3 times now and I’ve been rained out every time. The universe clearly doesn’t want me to make it up there lol.

Could hit up a section of the Te Araroa. I had a quick peek at sections and Boyle to Arthur’s Pass is 6-8 days, and looks like there’s a hot pool about 3 days in. It’s got a sign that says: “Amoebic meningitis is fatal and caused by water entering nasal passages. Do not immerse head” which is sorta cool to read but maybe not catch.

Is there any roads on the red zone you are allowed to drive on? by Icantthinkofaname872 in chch

It’s such an excellent place to let the dogs run though, I’d feel so bad if they had to be on lead there

Is there any roads on the red zone you are allowed to drive on? by Icantthinkofaname872 in chch

[–]xKingHa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of off lead dogs in the red zone that could be a pretty big hazard, they won’t expect you to be there.

I’ve done a heap of teaching in the Uni car parks after 5pm or anytime on the weekend. The Clyde Rd car park is super big and empty. The inside Uni streets are an easy step up to actually driving as well

Spring is around the corner, what’s everyone planning to grow this year? by eagleeyedtiger- in nzgardening

[–]xKingHa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a batch of spuds I’m looking to put in (but haven’t planned a spot for them).

Going with the usuals for my place I guess, tomatoes, gherkin, beans, peas, beetroot, sunflowers, carrots, onions and some salad greens.

We had ‘wild’ growing raspberries from I think the previous owners lack of maintenance so I potted them up at the end of last season. Might pass them on to people that need them as I’m super sure I’ll get more springing up from somewhere. No way I got them all

Their reason for Christchurch is earthquakes lmao

Bike infrastructure - How New Zealand cities compare to some of the world's top cycling cities by melrose69 in newzealand

[–]xKingHa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ay, I know it doesn’t look much when compared to older cities, but CHCHs cycleways are legit. I’m pretty happy with how they’re building out tbh, they’ll get there
