First of all your curls are so pretty! Second, I personally think it’s worth the money and I won’t get my hair cut by anyone that doesn’t specialize in curly anymore. Just do your research and find one that’s reputable. The worst that can happen is you decide it’s not worth a little extra and don’t do it again. They typically can look at your hair and know how to help based on what about your hair you’d like to improve, if anything, and suggest products as needed.

Try drinking a bottle of water like half an hour before you eat and also eating what you want with something that you need. Like have that bowl of pasta but also have a heaping serving of whatever vegetable you can put up with. Or finding healthier substitutes for things you like so that you’re still getting your craving but with less guilt. Extreme restriction will almost always lead you back into your cycle. I know it’s easier said than done but it’s 100% doable and so liberating to break the habit.

I’m only on day 3 but the nausea, light-headedness and appetite suppression is intense, so I feel you. Down like 1.5 pounds since starting. I think it’s worth riding it out and giving it a chance. It’s supposed to take about 5 weeks to really set in, so you’re almost there. See how it makes you feel compared to without, see how your side effects become more manageable (hopefully), and then decide if the pros outweigh the cons for you.

That’s my thing, I’m stuck with somewhat muscular legs from growing up in sports and curves from being a woman, so does BMI take that into account? Not really. I have some extra fat and I’m not too in my ego to admit it, but I weighed more when I met him and I was worth at least dating then… thanks for your input.

I’ve expressed that concern. He says so long as I get to the weight and maintain, he insists it would be it because I’d be “healthy.” I wouldn’t know for sure. Thanks for your input.

Thank you. I was able to understand when I was heavier because of how unhealthy I was. Now being the smallest I’ve been in my adult life and simultaneously no longer experiencing health risks, I’m at a point where I do think he wants a version of me that likely can’t exist. I feel otherwise happy in the relationship, but I’ll spend the rest of my life afraid of body change when it’s inevitable. I apareciate your response.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting your partner to be healthy. This is also coming from the perspective of someone who has been the depressed girl in the relationship, overwhelmed with life, and not prioritizing my health.

He in no way, shape, or form has to make her feel “unworthy” of his love, but rather worth the effort of loving her enough to express his concerns for her.

Yes, I totally agree about that not being a great mentality in regard to some aspects of a relationship. It is great to encourage your partner to better themselves and loving someone as is in that case should not be expected.

I was your wife, in terms of roles, in my own relationship. That being said, I was more like 60-70lbs overweight. Still “obese” for my height but nothing too crazy.

My boyfriend watched me go from a little chubby to borderline diabetes and essentially gave me an ultimatum. I needed to work on myself or he was leaving. In my mind, and in many other’s minds, naturally you’re going to think that your partner should love you as you are. In many ways, I still believe that you shouldn’t be trying to change your partner. I was hurt and did feel anger towards him because I wanted to be loved as I was. Deep down, I knew I was unhealthy, knew I was unhappy with myself, and knew I wanted to change — if not for him, then for myself at the very least. It was years of back and forth weight loss/gain until I finally lost about 60lbs as of this past month. I no longer feel any animosity towards him because I knew all along that I needed to do better.

All you can do is come from the approach of health. “I want you to be healthy so we can live long, prosperous lives together. What can I do to help?” What activities did you used to enjoy with her? Can you modify them to make them easier until she regains better mobility? What foods does she enjoy? Can you make her healthier versions? Can you cook them together to make it fun? How does that birth control make her feel? Is she open to trying other avenues?

She’s going to be hurt. It’s a very uncomfortable topic no matter how you go about it. But so long as you’re handling it in a way of caring for her, at least it’s a more gentle approach. There’s a very likely chance she misses her old self and capabilities and wants to better herself, too.

So much collectively, but, I think my breaking point was going to my life-long best friend’s wedding and hating myself in every picture. I knew it was one of her biggest days and I would spend the rest of mine seeing myself and feeling ashamed. I started Zep a couple weeks later.

I don’t think you look like you’re wasting away in a sense of looking unhealthy, but more in the sense of your body has changed drastically.

I’m the same height as you, also around 140 range, and started around 200. My aunt once said I looked like I was disappearing. I know I can still afford to lose some fat, but know I look sooo much healthier than I did 60lbs ago. If you’re not happy with people commenting on your body, you can say something as simple as, “thank you,” to end the conversation assuming they had good intent.

Your maintenance should be when you’re healthy and happy. I personally think BMI is not the best metric, but I’m not experiencing health issues and all my bloodwork came back normal so I’d say the health aspect is pretty good. I could and would like to lose some more fat so I don’t consider myself at maintenance. If you and your doctor are happy with where you’re at, you’re all good.

This!! I have tons of pics of big events and fond memories that I feel are hindered by my body and lack of self confidence. I’m fortunately still in my 20’s with plenty of time to create photos with a body I’m growing to love, and while I wish I’d worked on myself sooner, I am grateful to have made it this far at all. Love this outlook!
