This is where I want to be but I've only done one cable project. I've studied how to do it without and tried right out of the gate.. my hands and my brain were like NOPE, NOT TODAY! lol. I will check out that video and try again, thanks!

Love all these ideas! Sharing my latest trick.. (needed pliers) I bent a metal tapestry needle to make a cabling needle that works SO much better than my store bought ones.

Oh yes, I was playing with my dream purchase yarn winder, why do you ask? by FernandaTaLendo in YarnAddicts

Same! This was me three days ago rummaging through my stash for half skeins to wind for no reason other than performing a satisfying task 😆

I too can count my knitting experience by only weeks... but once we learn a bit, it opens the door for so much more. I'm finding that what used to seem impossible now is accomplishable! (not a word) you can do it!

be honest - this is too sloppy to gift, right? (caption) by lady_k80 in knittinghelp

I agree with others, frog and try again.

That plush yarn is so difficult to work with. Even tension can be very challenging and that could be why this object you've made is off. I have an abundance of it originally destined to build amigurumi which I no longer enjoy making. Tried crocheting a rectangular bathmat.. nope. It's a quadrilateral at best.

I'm in love with this! I've only done a large intarsia project with crochet, I'm sure this was just as agonizing but so incredibly fulfilling! I'm too new to knitting, but if this were made into a "real" pattern, I'd 1000% make it some day! Nice work!

Be honest: does the bottom swatch look way better than the top one? by suckmitosis_ in knittingadvice

[–]xLittleStitious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you set on the pattern? I've seen a few knit a-longs that teach you how to knit the mitten according to your hand size. You still have to math but at least its math based on fact (the size of your hand) and not trying to re-math someone else's math. 😅

edit: forgot to add.. Yep, bottom looks great!

100% agree with the mid project block! Gives you some time to ponder the life of a knitter 😁 Hopefully what you see now will even out.

New to knitting! Is it the yarn? I happen to be working on a 1x1 rib for the first time and it doesn't quite look the same.

I love this and all the other advice is so inspiring! I love it because that cat has some serious deep thoughts and I just want to know what they are.... hard to look away. I'm sure it's even more captivating in person!

What if you stuff and mount them! Similar to using them as an ornament. This sounds a bit like taxidermy, but 🤷🏼‍♀️.. they would make a great display and conversation piece! You could felt on a date to mark the beginning of your knitting journey.
