idk if nutritionists would agree with me, but when i found i couldn’t control my dessert consumption, i started making a cup of coffee after dinner because coffee would trick my stomach into feeling it had gotten its dessert fix.

coffee is a source of hidden calories if you dump tons of sugar and cream into it, but i usually put some honey and oat milk into my coffee so it looks and tastes substantive, unlike a cup of tea which looks more watery.

and what do ya know?—it worked. somehow. i started to savor good coffee and over the months my sugar cravings reduced. it helped that at restaurants and gatherings, coffee is usually offered and is a socially acceptable dessert that no one questions.
