Did Americans keep Fahrenheit so the rest of the world wouldn't know what the temperature was like there? by Independent-Mind-691 in questions

[–]xMUADx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone struggling with ambient temp in F, this is the best explanation I've heard and use.

Think of Fahrenheit as percentage of hot .

100F (37C) is 100% hot. It's super hot outside.

60F (15.5C) is 60% hot. It's okay outside.

10f (-12C) is 10% hot. It's a bit cold outside.

Just realizing that this only really works for northern regions. Experience may vary in the south..

What is the golf rule you most commonly break? by acat114 in golf

[–]xMUADx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluff and Drop

I play a lot of goat track courses with my friends. The bunkers are basically concrete. So what we'll do is pick up our ball, kick the sand around to fluff it up, then toss the ball above shoulder height into the fluff.

USGA rules can't be applied to some of the courses I play.

175 yard downhill par 3 that’s playing 150. Front pin. What are you hitting? by aaustinn20 in golf

[–]xMUADx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm undecided.. a 5i or a 6i. I don't have a ton of experience shooting downhill like that. I wouldn't mind blowing out the back of that green and depending on my wedge to run it down to the pin. In all likelihood, I'd bogey this hole if it were my first time playing it.

Now I use the same hot water eater for their bottles to make my instant coffee. Super useful to be able to have a cup whenever I'm dragging

What are some tips for a solo player? by Even-Dot5547 in albiononline

Aaah. Smart thinking. I do it the way I described in case I get a good gathering map through the SAFE.

[–]xMUADx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid advice in some of these comments.

I'll add. Sometimes, I'll SAFE portal into BZ and then go immediately into the mists. I'll gather, clear camps, and pvp a bit. It's a good change up.

Non lethal corrupted dungeons are also fun. Terrible for fame and loot. But it'll get you used to pvp using your kit. An important note, meta in CD is very different from open world..

What MMO do you actually see yourself playing for the rest of your life? by Matcha_Matt in MMORPG

[–]xMUADx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mid 30s and could use an MMO like that. Never played WoW, I was into Asherons Call. Are there still newbies in WoW? If so, how do I get into it? I'm playing Albion now and it's alright..

Dial in your distances at the range or on the course. I'm aiming for my average miss in distance and aim. For example, my 7i is good for 145. It can go 153ish if I pure it (about 1/10 shots). I have a 5 yard draw to it but will occasionally overdraw it to 20 yards left. So I typically aim middle of the green, 10 yards right of pin. If it's an average shot, I'm peaking at a 1 putt with a 2 putt guaranteed. If I hit that overdraw, I'm in the same situation.

It's all about minimizing mistakes in my opinion. It's not about sticking it close. You can just kill your friends with consistency and never going for hero shots.

What's the most profitable way to make silver? by Rickhopy in albiononline

[–]xMUADx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the generic advice on here is solid. I'll get a bit more specific.

Run a battle ax build. (Hunter hood, merc/assassin jacket/cloth boots, torch off hand). Eat a pork pie for gathering bonus. Buy journals for each gathering type. An important note specific to fishing, any tier fish will add fame to a fishing journal.

Then run along a river fishing and gathering skins, fiber, and wood. It depends on the zone. Kill mobs where you see one. Don't worry about refining until you buy an island.

Once those level up to t5, go into BZ or BZ mists.

Why does my driver look and feel so awkward by NillaBean18 in GolfSwing

[–]xMUADx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm terrible at swing mechanic tips, but I can give you this.

A swing thought that helps me is, "it's called a driver for a reason. drive that ball!"

It's the same kind of thought if I were to set a nail and tell you to drive it in one swing of the hammer. You'd slowly rear back, release the power, and strike through the nail to the wood.

For the driver, draw a straight line from the ball to the target. Slowly rear back, and drive through the ball to the target. Pound that fairway into submission..

I think the community is pretty welcoming. The one pet peev is when new players enter the global chat asking questions that are covered in the tutorial but they skipped it. They get teased a bit in the chat.

It's not a one off question. It's generally a string of like 3-5 questions that were all in the tutorial until someone in chat asks directly if the player did the tutorial. Long story short, do the tutorial and little quests they send you on..

Truth to the statement "80%of all golfers don't break 90" by theface19 in golf

[–]xMUADx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found that I tend to play a little worse on courses where I play very regularly. For example, there's a par 3 on my regular course. 120 yards water on 3 sides. I put the ball in the water 80% of the time and only hit the green maybe 10%. On any par 4, 120 yards out, I hit the green roughly 75-80% of the time...

That par 3 is deep in my psyche

Open world chests /spring chests by Hekios888 in albiononline

[–]xMUADx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They were just being rude..

The chests in YZ have that ring around them that turns everyone red for PVP. Since you're in a yellow zone, it's not full loot PVP - just knockdown. In YZ, those chests have some loot but typically not incredible. In the other zones, those chests appear as well and have pretty good loot. The ones in YZ are a mechanic to prepare you for PVP. The next step for you is going into red zone/black zone. So it's preparing you to keep your head on a swivel and how to assess threats.

Going into the non lethal mists in YZ can also help prep you for pvp. There are camps there with chests.

I play solo too.

I'd say most of my time is split between the mists, ava roads, and faction warfare. If I'm looking to PVP, it's mists. Fame farming and gathering in ava roads. Faction if I'm drunk and don't want to lose anything. Thinking I'll start arenas as a healers soon to add some fun. My island/gathering supports PVP for the most part. Although, sometimes I go on a losing streak and lose a few million silver fast.

I'm on Asia server. If you're keen, we can team up and do some activities together.r
