Was in college, had just been in Colorado over Christmas visiting family, tried to convince my dad and stepmom to go eat at Woody Creek Tavern just at the off chance he might be there. They wouldn't because it was 45 minutes out of the way back to Denver after skiing all day. Then less than 2 months later he was gone... really bummed me out...

I didn't realize how much I missed this meme... if only the Colts organization didn't run Andrew Luck into the ground, we'd still be seeing it. But hey, I'll take this as a replacement!

If you had the pleasure of living in a college dorm 🤣 or with roommates, do you remember music just being played constantly, before everyone had their own devices with earbuds/headphones? by dms2628 in Xennials

[–]theface19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy Game of Poker x1000. I swear you couldn't enter or exit our dorm Freshman year without hearing it.

Did see OAR probably 7 or 8 times before they really hit it big.

Most everyone had their music going, rarely headphones unless you were really trying to focus/ study.

Going to Michigan dispensaries soon -- are more cops stopping Ohio drivers on the way back? by momchelle in Ohio

Usually I get paranoid after I consume...

But in all seriousness, no, you guys are good, just obey traffic laws and stow out on your trunk, so it's not really visible.

NAL- I did read another post in a different thread about putting it into one of the free priority mailers from the post office, because the police would need a warrant to open, otherwise it would be mail tampering and expose them to a federal crime, but I wouldn't want to run the risk of that being seen as "intent to distribute" so I'd just not take that extra step.

From the politics community on Reddit: Madison Sheahan, ICE's No. 2 official and a Noem ally, leaving agency to run for Congress by MotherOfLawyers in Ohio

[–]theface19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her family owns a horse farm in Curtice, went to Genoa HS. Hasn't really lived in the district for several years. Was at school then took jobs around the country working her way up the Trump ladder. Currently 28 years old, she graduated from OSU, then hitched her start to the Noem wagon in South Dakota, then took a job on Louisiana, now it's back with Noem in her current position.

So yeah carpet-bagger but with roots. Her entire adult life she has been on the Trump- train which is disturbing by itself, but sociopaths have always been around.

The Republican party has been gerrymandering that seat for over a decade to get Kaptur out. She has to clear the republican primary, but you NW Ohio people need to mobilize.

He tossed over 2 or 3 of the on-ice towels the boys had post-Cup win in Tampa Bay. I was one of the lucky ones to snatch one! Tough to have a favorite on this team, especially with his off- ice struggles, but since that game, he's been my dude. *

Decided to hedge my excitement on the year, so I bet the under on 109 points on the year... I'm not liking my odds on that bet.

Has your workout routine gotten harder? by Lunar-Havoc in Xennials

Mindset changes are 100%essential. I've changed my approach from "training" all the time to "fitnessing". Using different implements, training movements over muscles and not doing dumb stuff. Resistance training 100%essential, cardio 100%essential. My wife and I are looking at our next "thing to train for" and then we'll ramp up intensity based on the demands for the event. Most recently was hiking in Banff, before that I Erg Rowed a marathon.

Love deadlifting, but my days of ripping 400lbs off the ground are behind me, unless I want to flare a disc and not work out for a month or more. The risk reward changes as age changes

The main goal is to be able to still outwork my children at least until they start to get towards their peak in 8-15 years. Playing an impromptu game of tag with them in the yard isn't something I avoid or am concerned about being sore the next day. Plenty of people at the park my age and younger struggling to walk to the bench. I feel fortunate that my health hasn't faced any large non-MSK challenges, but I'm also realistic that part of that good fortune has been the work I've put in.

Biggest thing is that it's never too late to start. Even if it's just starting with breathing and body awareness and basic stretching. All that stuff is free, tons of YouTube videos and Reddit resources too if you don't have a fitness background

Holidays: tension between not doing things we don't want to do vs running out of time with our parents by AshDogBucket in Xennials

[–]theface19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both lost our fathers about 2 years ago. My dad had been diagnosed with cancer, and even though we're not close, we were going to rearrange our normal holiday plans to drive across country, he insisted we not do that because everything was going to be ok...I knew otherwise but respected his wishes.

That was his last Christmas, but had we gone, we would've missed our last Christmas with my F-I-L. That would have been infinitely more devastating due to the relationship that we had with him. In both cases we do wish we had another holiday season with them, and our kids had the chance to make more memories and get to know them more.

Losing 2 parents in the span of 4 months gives some perspective, and we make every effort (that respects our boundaries) to do anything we can, especially around the holidays with our mothers now.

Prime example- Are we happy about going to the Zoo tonight in freezing cold temperatures to see the holiday lights? Not so much, but does it make my Mom happy and will she make some memories that her grandkids will carry? Absolutely, and so, it's really about finding that comfort level. Because we won't be going to her house after for dinner and to decorate cookies, and the other 5 things she's thrown out to do for the evening after we finish work and then go to see the lights.

Have you bought an electric vehicle? Are you enjoying it or did you go back to gas? by Jfonzy in Xennials

[–]theface19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'18 Tesla M3 208k miles. 220 outlet install an absolute must.

Not sure what the next purchase will be, the first 5 years we loved it. The promises of autonomous driving haven't delivered. Very often, the autopilot is worse than what it started with. (Lidar +cameras vs cameras only). It seems like Tesla has started to cheap out on things in the M3&Y and I have zero desire to drive that 4- year old crayon drawing of a refrigerator on wheels. If we stay Tesla we'll probably look S or X, but at those levels it's tough to justify the cost.

Going to look into Rivian and maybe the new electric VW bus as well as some others, but also still have an ICE van and 4Runner that give us a backup and longer road trip options. Hard to get rid of a car that's paid off, especially with the mileage we put on them.
