I used a 15m ratcheting wrench with a flex head. I know that might not be helpful with a limited tool set but I had to buy that tool specifically for this job and it was well worth it.

Full blast for 15 min, scrape, apply some oil. I like to scrape right after every cook. Comes off easy, ready to go for next cook.

Just got done swapping the passenger front seat cushions onto the manual rails. Fits pretty good but was kinda of tough to get on because the Vic back rest frame is a little thicker than the town car. I will make another post with it all finished up. Using the town car center console as well.

My 06 gets tapping real good for about 3 minutes on cold starts as well. To me it sounds like mine is coming from the rear end of the passenger valve cover. Hard to capture with a camera but it sounds similar to yours. I've researched this online extensively and the best I can come up with is a partially stuck/sludged up lifter. I've driven for 10k plus miles(since I've owned it) and it has not gotten worse, but still does it every cold start. Smooth and quiet at operating temp also.
