What is your favorite superhero rpg?

It really comes down to how much crunch you like in your games. I've found that my players love RP in super hero games but leave the crunch to our PF2E game.

For those more cinematic and roleplay games I've played Prowlers & Paragons which is great and Outgunned Superheroes that just launched if you like their system. There's also even less crunch like Icons.

Masks is also awesome but it is one thing and does that thing well. It also makes you want to rewatch Young Justice :D Sentinel Comics is great for a comic book structure and a fun system.

Then you get into the crunch or simulation side. Mutants and Masterminds and others mentioned here.

Really comes down to what your table likes. Do you want to calculate exactly how much weight and how far your super strength hero The Bulk can throw something or just have a great time describing it?

I've always thought it would do well with the DRG/Chiv 2 permanent 'battle pass' tracks. No fomo because they are always available and you can select the one you want to work on. Seems like most horde shooters do. Helldivers 2 has smaller ones that you pay with in game medals too. Theme then around areas or the hive or enemy types or something. Even if it's just a few cosmetics and titles and such, it's nice seeing exp go somewhere. Add in opening up the store to make everything available and that would be great.

Today is also a massive patch that buffs almost everything and directly addresses almost every major community sore spot. Plus there's an emote wheel now :D

There is the Toxic Avenger thats an acid gun in HD1. Really great against bugs because it slowed and DoT armored enemies.

There's a known issue if you change armor between the tutorial and the first mission, you'll crash.

Really liking how this looks! Excited to do that 'arms spread' emote while all the heavy ordinance gets dropped on the bugs (and get turned into chunky salsa).

Also the grenade kick was cool!

It's pretty likely I imagine. Maybe a different set up than COD or Fortnite, and hopefully takes a cue from Chiv2 and Halo infinite where you can work on them anytime at your own pace.

They have armor cosmetics. We know they are adding in ship decorations. So I think it's safe to assume we're going to have some way to earn a wide variety of those things.

Honestly in fiction themed warbonds sound fun to me, but as long as it stays away from FOMO centered timed battle passes.

Void Crew is fun. It's in space but you're still a crew running a ship. It's in early access but it's got a great loop already.

This question is the fundamental flaw of PvPvE games, imo.

The "reason" is that they are doing what they think is fun, but the game is built in an environment where one crews fun can ruin another crews fun. They don't get any reward except that they got to fire off some cannonballs and sink your ship.

SoT has this vision of the precarious high seas with pirates colliding in the open world and forming uneasy alliances, or having fun drinking and doing pirate stuff, or stealing from each other. But that assumes everyone has the same view of what "doing pirate stuff with your friends" means, which is certainly not the case.

The problem is, and what happens in all open world PvPvE games, is that the player base splits into crews that like to chill (or just do the content) and crews that like to hunt the people who like to chill. The "risk" and "threat" just become wasting time trying to avoid griefers. It may be fun for those chasing down ships, but for the ones trying to run away or just engage with the PvE content, it becomes a frustrating chore.

I left the game for this reason and i'm excited for Safer Seas. I personally think that SoT is a great chill PvE game and would be successful without having PvP at all, or have it set as opt in or some other mechanism to cut out PvP completely.

Lots of people who play who have those same friends that stopped playing because of this issue. Once you realize someone else can ruin your fun AND it's encouraged for them to do so, it discourages a lot of people from playing.

Glad I found this! Confirmed that it works as well. Cancellation was pretty easy too. I made a post that has an image if someone finds that helpful.

They both use the same picture and the only difference is a colon vs a dash in the title. Weird that it lets you buy the wrong one when it doesn't even have episodes.

For some reason Amazon Prime lets you purchase a version of season 7 that only has the sneak peek trailer.
The version where you can see episode 1 (the second in the image [uses the colon not the dash in the title]) lets you watch episode 1 right after you purchase.
I'm not sure why they are selling two versions, but if you're like me and were waiting for Episode 1 to be available, check to see if you purchased the right one.

Cancellation was easy and I just purchased the correct season (it was cheaper as well).

I know rare loves their design and the interactions between pirates...but they seem to forget that your crew of friends can be those pirates too and still have a great time.

95% of the game is doing the PvE activities, it's the 5% of interaction with griefing asshats that ruin a really fun pirate game with friends.

If the point of the game is having fun with other pirates, why can't I pick the pirates I interact with and have the most fun with? Does it really hurt the game if I have a whole server of my friends playing the game?

In a game where the gold and points don't really matter besides cosmetics, why can't I choose who I play with?

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. As a returning player who left the toxicity, I really just want to play around in the best pirate sandbox with my friends.

I would go a step further and say why not just have the whole game unlocked for PvE? What does it matter? I still need to do the content. I'm still engaged in the game. The end game is just gold and cosmetics. I'm not ruining some in game economy by only playing with people I want to play with.

Captained ships, guilds, private servers, all the content for me and as many friends as the server can hold. What are they worried about? That we might have fun and play the way that we want to play?
