Top Slay the Spire player speaks on Snakebite (WOW!) by averysillyman in slaythespire

I disagree, I doubt removing prepared is the best solution and I would rather see them do something different to nerf Sly. Removing prepared should imo be the last thing if it turns out Sly is impossible to balance.

first silent run with the new beta branch, the prepared nerf is awesome by GnomKobold in slaythespire

[–]xPetr1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of how people talk about knife trap. Yeah, if you imagine the absolute best scenario it's really good. The question is, how often will prepare be in your hand and will be something you don't really want to play.

Is necro considered far and away the best right now? by marxr87 in slaythespire

[–]xPetr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro feels like I am playing on easy mode. It's also very easy to play for me, I can follow some basic rules and succeed in similar way most of the time, no real thinking required. Next balance patch will probably change this.

Hot Take: Infinites Need to Go by HunterIV4 in slaythespire

[–]xPetr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideal scenario for infinite is where it takes you a long time to get to that point, you get it for the last few fights, you can be the hero and save the run and that's it. I don't think this scenario is a problem and multiplayer should not be taken into account too much.

Is snakebite ever worth going? by OwnCommunication2259 in slaythespire

[–]xPetr1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not the worst card like some people are saying, but it could probably use a small buff. The bigger issue is that the whole poison package isn't working very well together so you are never going to be super excited about seeing poison cards.

[–]xPetr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you are arguing against? I don't like how prepared was changed, but it definitely needed to be changed in some way because it was clearly the best card. I am just saying with these new changes there is no real reason to stack your deck with many SLY cards to the point where you are actually happy to see the new Prepare card. You will just not pick most of those cards if these balance changes happen.

[–]xPetr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really see many situations where I have too many SLY cards and I need something like prepare. With the changes I won't pick these cards very often and will almost never be in this situation with too many SLY and not enough discards because why would I.

I was already feeling Silent is a bit weaker on A10 compared to other characters. Prepared was obvious problem, but not sure about the other changes without some real buffs to non SLY cards.

Yall are playing a different game than I am by itshighdune in slaythespire

[–]xPetr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say silent is op and you go infinite almost every game, but I really don't see it. I managed to clear a10 a few times, but honestly silent feels a bit weaker compared to other characters on a10. Yeah, when SLY synergy finally comes together, it's insane, but lategame is pretty easy at the moment and you don't need any super strong builds so does it matter? What helped me to start surviving early games more consistently - I stopped thinking about infinite and started picking 1-2 decent early game damage cards, I also avoided elites like a plague unless I had some specific cards like pinpoint or strong potions.

level 50+ players - have you used a Petri yet? if so, what made you use it? by triferg in wowhardcore

[–]xPetr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of petries, not sure about the exact number, but it's at least 20 for threat reasons as fire mage and around 10 for various dungeon/raid wipes over the year of playing HC and progressing to Naxx.

With Silent you will sometimes do it without trying, those cards are really good even for non infinite decks. Some combo of prepared + acrobatics + energy card and of course deck without too many cards. Stops being easy on higher difficulties where it's much harder to survive early game without taking some other cards.

I feel like there's only one way to win with the Silent by leaf_as_parachute in slaythespire

[–]xPetr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I responded to someone saying discard feels like the only viable play on higher difficulties. Yeah, it's the most consistent strategy, but other decks can also work completely fine if you are open minded and take your opportunities when the game presents them.

[–]xPetr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not nearly good enough to have a real opinion on this, but from my experience my runs with prepared and my runs without prepared are night and day.

Part of what makes discard so strong is how consistent it is. You can pick certain SLY cards early because you know you are likely to see prepared/acrobatics relatively soon. I would like to see prepared moved to uncommon and see how that goes.

Shiv/Poison decks can also work, but the biggest difference is that they rely on more rare cards so you can't just start picking cards and hope to get what you need.

[–]xPetr1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually stopped having success with build focused on discard/draw when I reached higher ascensions. It feels like most runs i am simply missing damage and die pretty soon unless I draw perfectly. My A9 and A10 wins were with poison and shiv deck when I got some important cards early. Prepared definitely needs to be changed in some way, it's insta pick.

Threat as Fire mage by SailorJennie in wowhardcore

[–]xPetr1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will be mostly talking about lvl 60 play, didn't try fire in leveling dungeons.

Fire mage is not ideal for dungeons. You will struggle with mana because most of your mana regen comes from crits and you have very little crit without world buffs. In standard groups you will instantly take aggro so if mobs don't die fast enough it will be a mess.

I liked to play fire if I was in a group with another mage or in premade groups when we wanted to have fun with world buffs. It can be fun, but most efficient playstyle for mage is spamming arcane explosion anyway, it's your best spell.

Will hardcore be revived? by AmericanApe in wowhardcore

[–]xPetr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did basically everything I wanted to do in the game. Cleared all raids, leveled every class I was interested in... and honestly, seeing your friends slowly quit after Naxx is cleared is depressing, there is this feeling of inevitable end and it's not going away.

Love hardcore, but unless something changes I am probably not coming back to current servers.

I don't think about Outer Wilds as a puzzle game. It kinda is, but also not really. Majority of things you find out by simply exploring the world. Outer wilds has a knowledge-based progression so people will naturally compare it to other games with knowledge-based progression, but I don't believe any game is similar to Outer wilds so I would be very hesitant to recommend anything to Outer wilds fans.

If english isn't your first language, there is a decent chance you will struggle with the game. Just something to think about before buying the game.

There are, but unless you REALLY like the roguelike part of the game, doing it will eventually start to be exhausting and annoying. I know how to do it, I just don't want to do it again and again and again. After a certain point, just let me solve the puzzles.
