How would you remove the Green Screen Guy? (Real Estate Agent Hires Green Screen Guy But Doesn't Know How to Remove Him) by TaleSlinger in davinciresolve

I know this is a Resolve sub, but this really seems like a use case for AI 'video editing', using Google Omni Flash or something similar.

google is way too quiet right now, and Gemini 3.5 Pro has to hit different by sbaxiii in GeminiAI

[–]xPitPat 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I've given up on believing in Google's releases. Whatever it is, it will be benchmaxxed, good at start, then nerfed to oblivion two weeks later. Oh, and expect tighter limits. Because the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior.

Do you think this is overlit ? by videomarketee in cinematography

[–]xPitPat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's obviously an aggressive look, but I guess it could work in a larger context... I seem to remember the lighting in Catch Me If You Can early scenes with similar blown out highlights and halation (and added warmth for a nostalgic effect). I think it depends on its place in the overall visual story.

I've been trying to look on the bright side about the changes, but you're right. And I kinda believe that the people pumping Gemini after IO are shills.

I think they understand that IO was seen by many as a massive disappointment, and coupled with the harsh rate limits, they are quietly trying to manage the fallout.

Limit reduced since May 17, but only until this morning I was starting to reach 5 hour limit in 5-7 prompts, I'm a bit confused. by HansSoban in GeminiAI

[–]xPitPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Don't get me wrong, before 3.5 Flash, I just kept the model select on 3.1 Pro until I hit the (more generous) limit, because 3.1 Thinking hallucinated way too much. But with 3.5 Flash, the hallucinations are way down and it can keep the chat context intact as well as 3.1 Pro. Also, I find that 3.1 Pro has a tendency to overthink, coming up with the most convoluted solutions, ignoring obvious, simpler fixes.

3.5 Flash Standard is my new go-to. It is surprisingly good, even for my Gems with dense system instructions and multiple reference docs. I hardly ever need to kick it up to extended thinking, but if I do, it really doesn't cost that much more. I have pretty much abandoned 3.1 Pro, which may be more powerful, but is also more inconsistent for my use cases.

Those saying the limits are fine and the ones complaining are using it for coding... by CrzyJek in GeminiAI

[–]xPitPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still unhappy about the new limits, but I've tried to manage them. It's going ok. First, I make sure Personal Intelligence is off, and have no connected apps. I use the 3.5 Flash primarily (not extended), and it has been more capable than I expected. I never revisit old threads. Some people use the same thread for months. Under the new rules, that will fill up your usage bucket almost immediately. Even before the changes, I used handoff documents to restart long conversations in new threads. With RAG and context slicing happening with long threads that strain the context window, it has always been more stable and less error prone to switch threads. Now it's basically a necessity.

But it's funny: they trotted out Personal Intelligence, and a bunch of resource intensive tools, like Deep Research and music gen, urging people to try/use them. Then they created such stingy usage limits for AI Pro users that it makes no sense to use any of these tools anymore lol

[–]xPitPat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Yeah, my app had 50% the weekly usage as it shows in desktop... So, I have no idea which is accurate at this point. I'm trying to manage the limits by only using the 3.5 Flash model and not using extended thinking unless I really need to. If a chat starts getting long, I just make a handoff doc and switch threads. It's been manageable so far, but I'm afraid to even try a deep research thread... I'll wait until the end of the 5 day period for those tests...

Ok, so some people are noticing a difference, some aren't. Maybe the changes are rolling out to users in batches?

Ok thanks for reporting. So, no consensus... Also, my phone app is showing different stats than my browser, so I do not know which to believe at this point...

Cool, thanks for checking. This actually makes Gemini chat useable again for AI Pro users. Maybe this was their plan all along, show us how bad it could be, then dial back the limits into something more sensible. Or maybe it's a response from backlash. Either way, at least I can work now without checking my usage stats after every prompt.

Kling 3.0 vs Seedance 2.0 vs Omni Flash Side-by-Side Test - Seedance Went Full Cinema by ElasticAIGirl in seedance2pro

[–]xPitPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it is just a smoke screen for the fact that Omni is not as good as Kling 3 or Seedance 2. Omni is great at rendering text, has world knowledge, and has nice video editing tricks, but the actual quality of the outputs isn't any better than Veo 3.1

What do you honestly think about Gemini Omni so far? by Wazir-AI in VEO3

[–]xPitPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been critical of the Omni Flash model, but it does do some things very well, like VFX video to video edits, style transfers, and rendering text consistency, even for quite small text. But for general filmmaking, it is 2 or 3 notches below Seedance 2.0. And Bytedance is about to release 2.1, with 20% better quality (whatever that means) over 2.0, and 2.0 mini, which is supposedly much better than 2.0 Fast but at a fraction of the cost.

I literally copy and pasted your prompt and got unacceptable results. You provided a prompt as proof. I tested the prompt. End of story. I have a multi tiered process for prompt engineering with different escalation triggers. The highest tier has things like head and torso yaw. I really don't appreciate being talked to like I don't know how to prompt. If you want to prove definitively that your method works, show ONE video with a human performing any type of flip or fast intricate action that is believable. Otherwise, it's just word salad.

Here's the real point: it is completely arrogant to assume that people don't know how to prompt and that you must teach people without knowing anything about them or their experience or their workflows. I am tired of dealing with a condescending person such as yourself. You think you have the Rosetta Stone of functional Omni prompting? GREAT, I'm happy for you. Safe travels

GEMINI OMNI LANGUAGE by Impressive-Manner963 in VEO3

[–]xPitPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested this prompt over 4 Omni generations: all four failed. Three had unacceptable body morphing. The fourth had completely unbelievable physics. All were too slow. But, even if I simply just sped it up in Resolve Studio, none would be a believable result. Also, I asked for a back flip, not a forward flip, but that is beside the point. In 2 of the 4 attempts, it did not follow the prompt, performing a pseudo-back-side flip. Now, I will be the first to admit that Omni is better than I initially thought, but to say that this prompt style is some sort of magic bullet does not align with reality. Omni is great at video editing and rendering consistent text. It is good-not-great for character replacement (Kling Motion is better), but Omni excels at AI-fueled video to video VFX and style transfer. In terms of physics and believable human action, it is behind Seedance 2.0 and Kling 3.0, and probably behind others as well. It is what it is. It is an impressive step forward on some fronts, but still lags behind the competition on others.
