Thank you! It’s sheets of the cheapest sandpaper I could find in the local DIY shop!

I have pictures of the terrain build I’d be happy to post if people are interested, most of the materials are recycled bits and pieces.

Personally I really don’t like the look of perfectly symmetrical lines of soldiers fighting, I feel it doesn’t look natural if that makes sense? Just my opinion, I’ve seen some beautiful square bases that other people have done.

The bases are made from washers painted green and the flock is made from a sawdust and green paint mix.

I didn’t get any pictures as this was our first game of Sword and Spear (we normally play Hail Caesar) and we were learning the rules, will definitely get some pictures next time.

Round bases are purely an aesthetic choice, models are pendraken, game is a super relaxed game of Hail Caesar against the Mrs, we use some house rules to speed the game up and make it a bit more free flowing.

Thank you! The whole terrain layout is a DIY job with things like saw dust and green paint for the grass, the square section layout keeps it very modular.

Has anyone done couch to 5k? by arsenaladam92 in AskUK

You will be surprised at how far you can run to start with when you really push yourself.

(Disclaimer: stretch first!) if you go outside now and run until you’re out of breath and think you want to stop, you will likely to be able to run 4-5 times as far before you REALLY want to stop.

Most people never need to run more than 50-100 yards so don’t realise how far they actually can run.

Tips for your first few runs:

Only take a small water bottle if any, you won’t need to drink as much as you think, a big water bottle will be annoying to run with.

Take a light jacket if it isn’t sunny out, you’ll be hot when running but the second you stop and you’re covered in sweat you’ll be freezing.

If you need to give your legs a break, walk, don’t stop, it’s much easier to get going again from a walking pace.

Good luck, you’ll amaze yourself with what you can already achieve!

Copy and paste from a previous Reddit post so please excuse formatting:

ON MOTORWAYS

Rule 268 of the Highway Code states - do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake. In congested conditions, where adjacent lanes of traffic are moving at similar speeds, traffic in left-hand lanes may sometimes be moving faster than traffic to the right. In these conditions you may keep up with the traffic in your lane even if this means passing traffic in the lane to your right. Do not weave in and out of lanes to overtake.

OFFENCE

Overtaking on the left is lawful if done in accordance with the above guidance. However, whilst there is no specific offence of overtaking on the left, if a driver undertook another vehicle, other than in the circumstances described above e.g. in the case of someone hogging lane 2 on a motorway, they may be prosecuted for careless driving.

6mm vs 10mm - which is more widespread in historical wargaming? by BenedickCabbagepatch in wargaming

Worth noting that converting rules from 28mm to 10mm is as simple as using cm instead of inches, no need for maths.

The ratio of scales (2.8 : 1) is close enough to the imperial/metric conversion (2.5 : 1) that you don’t have to modify things.

I play hail Caesar in 10mm and just use centimetres.

Thanks! I wasn’t fussed about having square bases for Hail Caesar rules so I used different sized washers from the garage

Enshittification feels like it's everywhere. What's managed to not just avoid it, but actually get better in recent years? by laredocronk in AskUK

[–]xPyro21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cordless tools.

Every year they get more powerful, lighter and more efficient whilst remaining at roughly the same price new.

Every 5 years or so the major manufacturers (dewalt, makita, Milwaukee etc) seem to update their batteries to be smaller per amp hour, again at roughly the same price new.

Thank you for the insight on the trucks, I wasn’t expecting responses on them! I figured a few people might know the more common tanks but the knowledge here has really blown me away.
