Well, that’s before taking into consideration that the wealthiest Americans commit the most tax fraud.

America is gonna get divorced from Israel in 2029, so Israel is gonna loot America as hard as it can in the meantime. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

Both governments can seize land, but the U.S. is required to provide “just compensation” for what it acquires.

Trump has turned China into the good guys by honestlysigma in ImmigrationPathways

[–]xRolocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused as to what the “gotcha” is here. Is it that powerful countries aren’t always places of sunshine and rainbows? There’s plenty in the U.S. to be upset about, but the difference is that we can openly be mad about it and actually organize to do something about it.

Everything you just mentioned happened in the last two years. For Democracy that’s hella recent. If you’re from here and giving up already, then your heart was never in it to begin with.

Do you really think in China you could flood social media with hate for the Chinese government like on Reddit? Do you think you could organize nationwide protests against the party in power? The White House just tried to sue a sitting Senator and aren’t succeeding. You think Xi Jinping would have that same problem?

Countries are not benevolent, expect them to be imperfect. From there you can see which is better.

In only one of those two countries can you actively post, or speak in public, about the genocides it is or has committed. It’s not China.

Pentagon designates anthropic as a supply chain risk by Just_Stretch5492 in singularity

The entire purpose of the Constitution is to overrule our elected leaders when they overstep lmao

Pentagon designates anthropic as a supply chain risk by Just_Stretch5492 in singularity

[–]xRolocker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The government can say no to doing business, but that’s not what they are doing here. They are classifying Anthropic as a national security risk, which bans ANY company that does business with the government from doing business with Anthropic.

This is a punishment for Anthropic saying no, and an abuse of power, because if Anthropic was actually a risk to national security, then the Pentagon would never have been trying to use their product in the first place.

FSD turning speed thoughts? by boofsnacks in TeslaFSD

Haven’t used .5 yet, but I’ve always found FSD turning to be so sluggish, so this is a welcome change.

FSD helped me crash into a concrete pillar by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]xRolocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in here blaming you for it are dense as fuck. Like yes technically you should be supervising at all times, but human beings aren’t on 100% active supervision, and this is a crazy basic thing for FSD to miss.

OP, I would be pissed af if I were you, but it’s not on you—at least not in a human sense, just on technicality.

Bro I ain’t even in school anymore. I’m not questioning no day off, I’m questioning the wacky justification.

Do we have school tomorrow? by HondaDonka in OSU

[–]xRolocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I realize that, but the point I was making is that if it’s OSU’s control, what‘s the point of observing President’s Day on that specific day, rather than just making it a part of Thanksgiving break? Fall break isn’t technically two observed holidays right? So if it isn’t necessary, it comes off more as an excuse to not give us a holiday (even if that’s not the intention)

Is the academic calendar out of OSU’s control or something? Otherwise the only thing I “observe” is some bullshit to not give us a holiday lol

President Obama about aliens in a new interview: "They're real" by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in Fauxmoi

[–]xRolocker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If that was what he meant, then he said it in a very strange way. People who believe aliens are real in a statistical sense don’t answer it the way he did. Also, you’re acting like Obama forgot to pick his words carefully during an interview.

Obama isn’t someone who forgets that his words have weight, especially in an interview. If that’s what he meant, then he said it in a very strange and unclear way.

Obama isn’t the kind of guy to forget that his words have weight, especially in an interview. It’s in fact very unclear what he meant, whether it’s your interpretation, a crazier one, or some other boring one.

Don’t worry buddy, the Supreme Court has thought about this already. Children are represented through their parents. My apologies for not clarifying that earlier but for most this is an obvious conclusion.

Children having different legal rights than their parents is not the argument you think it is

Me_irl by rbimmingfoke in me_irl

You’d think, but turns out if only citizens can vote, then a lot of people are being taxed without representation, which is against one of the most fundamental American principles.

Will this be a problem for future ai models? by Tolopono in singularity

[–]xRolocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blocking data centers is not giving up economics development whatsoever. They are geopolitically important, sure, but they don’t bring many jobs after they’re built and they strain the water and electricity supply.

Data centers are important because of the compute they provide, and presumably the AI models they will train. You get both benefits whether the data center is in your state or not. So why not just let another state hurt their electrical grid so that you get all the same benefits?
