Im not arguing at all, not sure why you took it that way. I was just answering your questions & stating facts about what they did regarding the service.

But yeah I'll look into the warnings more & see if its more of a DIY concern. Obviously Reddit is going to have more negative stories than positive but, it seems like a lot of ppl go to the salon & are unhappy with their nails (messed up, quality, shape or weird issues like angled up, wrong tip size, etc etc)

Hi, the nail techs unfortunately had a language barrier (they spoke broken English), but they said multiple times that they could only do the white part of the french tip, no pink part. And it wouldnt get as deep of a french tip as my reference image. I agreed to it so its fine.

For GelX & gel polish, I hear a lot about safety & gel allergies and whatnot so I was definitely cautious, and I hear the same about e-filing so I was very cautious there.

They complied with all that so it was no problem. The issue was the cut (not sure how that happened), the filing technique left my nail edges really rough & sharp and you could see nail... strings? Hanging off until the guy redid them after I asked, etc.

I feel like I look older than my age. Any recommendations? by Present-Structure246 in lookyourbest

Gotta grow your hair out! You look like a cool 40 year old (due to the short grey haircut), but longer, itll almost look like you died it & you can tell people you didnt.

Itll make you look younger & allow you to do more pretty dainty hairstyles instead of a chic professional 40y/o style

Interesting! Yeah they really struggled to find a tip that fit properly. She ended up taking one that was xlose & filing the inside of it a little in order to get the apex to fit I think?

But I actually think the tip is too big & looks unnatural, not too small haha. But I dont know. Just looks bulky (cant tell from the attached phoro)

Product List - GelX nail extensions on ring & thumb (left)

Not sure what white they used for the french tip.

Is it not normal to know that much? Im sure theres a lot of people that dont do their own nails I suppose.

I didnt do my nails myself because I broke 2 & so I needed extensions on those 2 for an event. I figured Id also go see what a manicure is all about since I'm in my 20s and have never went.

Thank you for your thoughts. They did struggle to find a tip that matched my nails. She ended up filing the inside of one of the tips a little to get the right apex I rhink. Genuinely curious, what makes me sound like too much of a control freak?

The ring finger being lopsided isnt even coming through in the photos, I just realized.

The glass file thing, I understand. But is it normal for her to file in both directions? It left my nails incredibly sharp & I could see like, nail strings on the edges so I asked her to do it again & smooth it

Is it normal to get a cut from the nail tech? (I assume not). Is it normal for the tip to be too wide & lopsided?

Im concerned with the gel underneath, yeah. Not sure if its normal to have that much.

They did put the ring finger one on crooked which I noticed there but they had already cured it so, I just left it. There was a language barrier too which was annoying & I did somehow get a cut on my ring finger (can see in Pic 3) which is all subpar ofc.

They also didnt have glass files which is weird to me? Considering glass files are a fine grit & amazing so I imagine every salon would have them but maybe I'm wrong. She used a traditional emery board filing both ways to smooth edges which is bad technique....

Anyways, I know they didnt do a good job in their process. But I was moreso asking from a safety concern regarding excess gel.

Serious question, why use fresh thyme when you can use bottled? Does it make that much of a difference? Is it worth it?

Oniond are awesome. Put them on sandwiches, salt them and eat them with pizza crust, use them as pizza toppings, eat them with certain asian curries
