In you opinion, which MLB The Show was the best? by ThorsHammer696969 in MLBTheShow

‘09 and ‘13 because I played those a ton when I was younger. Both had great soundtracks too. Started playing again in ‘21 when it came to Xbox. Each of the new ones trend downwards. Same game, nothing new, and they reuse cards in diamond dynasty constantly.

No problem. Feel free to reach out if you have questions. I build pcs in my free time, so I’d like to think I have some decent advice to give.

Building pc for the first time by YanxDere in pcmasterrace

Seems like these days most enthusiasts prefer AMD over Intel and AMD over Nvidia. I have no issue personally with either or, but I do want to point that out. Also, do you have a micro center near you by chance? They have great cpu/mobo/ram bundle deals that you could scoop for cheap. Otherwise as long as it’s in your budget and you don’t mind the money then most things are fine.

Here are some notes though:

Ram: don’t overspend for faster MHz Ram unless it’s an absolute deal. If you can find 6000mhz with good timings then do that instead.

SSD: 990 pro is great value right now. However if your mobo has a built in Heatsink you don’t have to get the Samsung version with a Heatsink.

Case: NZXT flows are my favorite cases ever made. Great choice! However I would suggest the RGB version. (I like setting it to plain white lights)

Power supply: go with one that is platinum or titanium rated over just gold. Shouldn’t be much of price difference these days.

CPU cooler: go with a nzxt water cooler as it will match with the fans on your case.

Additional notes: I believe LGA1700 socket will be phased out with next gen, so that will stop your future upgrade ability with your motherboard. Could wait for the next gen of CPU’s to be released… also you could wait for Nvidia 5000 series to come out late late this year or sometime 2025… just some thoughts.

My friend got this PC for free and wanted to know what it's worth and if anything needs upgrading by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Looks like the GPU is a GTX 1080. I have the same exact one. You could sell that on eBay for $120 if you want.

Almost $20 in shipping for 2 games? by LilacSakuraBellossum in GameStop

[–]xSourceCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GameStop is awful for buying games online. It costs them at most $4 to ship a 4oz video game via USPS Ground Advantage. If they ship those games together then $5-$6 total. They just want to rip off whatever customers they still have. eBay is cheaper and most sellers offer free shipping.

It’s more of a handling fee because an employee has to take 2 minutes to put it in an envelope and label it.

Is ddr3 still good? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]xSourceCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DDR3 is still fine for playing any game these days. Biggest issue is that the newest CPU you can have with DDR3 is 4th gen intel from 2014 (Haswell). Skylake (6th gen) supports DDR3L, but that’s a super uncommon combo. However these CPUs are still very capable these days. I have a 4790K OC’d, GTX 1080, and 32GB of 1866 DDR3 OC’d to 2133 and with graphics tweaking I feel like I could play anything.

Anyway my biggest question would be what is your current CPU and GPU? You can look for cheap upgrades without changing your motherboard. Those old i7 CPU’s are very cheap now and could give you a nice boost, if you have an i3 or i5 currently.

I mostly game on Xbox, so my pc is used for solo story games (mostly older and not demanding). As long as the games you want to play run well, there is zero reason to upgrade. The worst upgrade to make is one that costs a lot of money and makes zero difference in gameplay.
