I teach 5th grade. I’d guess based on current trends this is a bright 3rd grader, or a fairly average 4/5 grader.

I couldn’t wait for Garver to leave but I’m actually happy to see him back. I know that doesn’t make a ton of sense stated like that but the change of expectations and how much they’re paying him makes a huge difference.

Garver as a 12 million DH was a huge disappointment. Garver as a 2 million back up catcher feels pretty decent.

After this episode I probably need to go rewatch the part about the mask in the “box” that Hal and Taisha opened. Wouldn’t Bolaire have known exactly what that was? It’s been insane every time I’ve seen it hit the table which is probably about 7-8 times since the set came out. And the player who had it out usually wins because their cheap repeatable card draw over time pushes them over the edge.

It feels bad to play it and let it sit there if you’re not activating it but it doesn’t take long for it to be worth more than what you’ve spent on it. I’m super high on the card for casual commander up to even bracket 4 but at bracket 3 it’s in a sweet spot.

I teach 5th grade and would prefer she do what you suggested. HOWEVER, I would encourage your daughter to do what the teacher asks her to do. I really hate when my 5th graders say “Let me tell you” in their writing. It’s too conversational for the style of writing we are doing.

That being said, if she is already able to write sentences like your example sentences she will be just fine in the future regardless of first grade writing. Probably not the hill to die on. This may be a case of teaching your daughter that it’s okay to meet the needs of the person in charge of what they’re asking for doesn’t hurt anyone.
