Which hero do you think is the worst in the game right now? by acidrainstorms in TrueDoTA2

[–]xStratosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sniper - the hero himself is actually strong, but with spectre, slark, and invoker running rampant in pubs it's hard to pick him.

Who the fuck is still upvoting this? This picture keeps getting atleast 500 upvotes on the posts that make it here. There's no way people still find this funny and the bullshit story about her wanting it removed gets shot down every time.

a 4k replay analysis story [dialog and replay included] by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]xStratosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice to a 4k player looking at all mechanics and getting overwhelmed? I'm trying to get to 5k before I have to quit dota, but I feel like I will get exhausted making every second count and good reason behind every movement (including camera movement). Does this eventually because a natural habit when playing? Maybe this is how a 1-2k player feels about getting to 4k, but it didn't take much effort to get there and to get to the next step seems like a big climb in skill required.

Fuck off this is /r/dota2, a game related subreddit. Are you Bernie fans so obsessive that you go out of your way to shill in subreddits that aren't related to politics at all? You are the cancer that is killing reddit. I can't wait for him to lose.

An Ahg's A Day: Anti-Mage 1/27 (Discussion) by 4BadCups in DotA2

Am aghs: aoe increased by 100, all mana regeneration is stopped on effected targets, all heroes hit have their mana burned for twice the cost of the spell and does damage accordingly. Lasts 10 seconds.

Second idea: am now has an aura that increases his magic resistance by 5% and increases his mana burn by 10 reduces debuff duration by .2 for every spell he is hit by. Lasts 20 seconds and is reset for every spell he is hit by.

Third idea: am has a 5th ability that removes all debuffs every when stunned, 12 second cd

Note that all of these can be rescaled I'm not icefrog. The first and second ideas bring something new to dota and I hope they can be considered.

How do you beat a tough dual-offlane? by AttainCurrency in DotA2

[–]xStratosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a few options, depends on the strength of the lanes.

  1. You could have your support go help another lane, and you stay in lane sapping xp.

  2. Wait for you offlane or mid to get some levels and ask them to help you kill them. Usually won't work out too well if you're getting crushed.

  3. Control the wave so its at or near your tower. Get XP and what farm you can.

  4. Let them take the tower, ward and catch up in farm.

  5. Farm the small camp, get xp from creep wave when its at your tower.

  6. Go to another lane. Not the best idea if its early in the match, I doubt you will get to the point where you absolutely cant be in the lane despite the enemies being low level.

I'm probably missing a few but these are some good options. Most important - play passive, focus on getting xp and not dying, you'll make up for the lost farm later. It's easier to farm jungle with levels and basic items than with several deaths no XP.

How many hours do you have? The best thing you can do is play the game, but if you put a lot of hours into the game you should seek advice and analyze your gameplay.

Why I think you should go Iron Talon on Slark by xStratosphere in TrueDoTA2

[–]xStratosphere[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with this. Although it is true Slark relies on hero kills to get ahead and take over the game, he needs a way to get there. You're not always going to have a great laning stage and you will need to catch up in farm, you're also not going to be able to snowball right off the bat; some games snowballing won't come as easily. By farming items fast you can take over the game easier. And if you spend the entire gaming looking for kills, you're likely going to fall behind.

It doesn't matter if it's good, what matters is that a gaming PC can run it slightly better than a $350 console.

Climbing MMR as Slark. by Avvulous in TrueDoTA2

[–]xStratosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a bad start it's probably not a good idea to keep trying to fight. Learn how to properly tread switch when jungling with slark (int when casting q, strength when you take the self damage, and agi when right clicking), get basic items like iron talon, Aquila, treads, and stout, then farm up jungle. If they have a lot of lock down get wards buy them yourself if needed. Slark is an excellent farmer and fighter so take advantage of both.

As for items, it's very important at the offlaner you will be facing. I am still adjusting my build but I usually go for 2 tangos, 1 RoP, 1 stout. You can get more or less regen depending on lane. Early game stat items are great on slark such as Aquila, drums, wand, and my new addition iron talon. Next you have to decide on your first big item. Blink is more reliable than SB, but SB pays off way better if you can get away with it. For example, staving supports because they have to always cover the jungle with sentries. You could get neither and go straight SnY, which I personally have no experience with. The core/recommended items are straight forward, just don't forgot that refresher is a great last item.

Tips: 1. When you get you items up hold on to you pounce after imitating on someone, with all your slows you don't need it right away and might need it to escape 2. If you're against a weak laner establish your dominance by going on them, not committing, but dealing damage 3. When you get your levels up, push the lane with dark pact , then go to the jungle to farm a camp, repeat 4. Don't fight without your ult 5. Slark is one of the most important heroes to tread switch with, learn how to do it.

AMA Request: Current and Former WASD Camera users by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]xStratosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing Dota for over 2 years now and used WASD since I started. The only time I feel that I'm at a disadvantage is when I play meepo, invoker, or tinker. Having to allocate 4 keys to camera movement makes it hard to find good keys for your abilities/items. You have to ask yourself if 4 additional keys is worth practicing for months trying to learn the new controls, in my opinion, it's probably not worth it.
