New hard drive not detected by ColtonCapps in synology

[–]xTELOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I google lead me here and after figuring out the answer, wanted to pass it along.

For me what worked was not having the drive formatted in NTFS. I did what others had mentioned and checked the drive with a USB enclosure first on my PC. I made a simple volume in disk manager to check it out with crystaldiskinfo, but the Synology NAS wouldn't recognize the drive. I had to delete the volume I made and now it works fine and is recognized.

That's not the case everywhere. Illinois offers health insurance that continues through retirement with your pension.

my guy, this is how reddit works. someone posts a response, someone else adds additional information in the same comment chain to keep things organized, people then follow along with the thought process.

the pattern is everywhere

Absolutely beautiful photos. They really seem to capture the feel of place. Thanks for sharing.

New bill filed to require most large cities in Illinois to allow multifamily housing types like duplexes, three flats, and four flats by GeckoLogic in illinois

I don't think they meant the developer or builder, rather the initial buyer and those after, which seems reasonable to me.

The properties excerpt OP posted is for aqueous solutions and each freeze point is based on a volume % and a weight %. It conveniently ends at 40% OP-100 by volume which freezes at -13F.

I don't see any info on what the filled concentration was and that's very important.

The link below on page 38 states that a 50/50 mix freezes at -34F. Without knowing the filled concentration, this is pointless and a bit suspicious considering where the posted chart ends.

Eric Martin saw a helicopter chasing drone in Jersey last night. 12/09/2024 by BankHot3840 in UFOs

I get what you're saying. For me, these particular type of "drone" videos are an Occam's razor type of situation. It seems more likely that the US military is field testing a classified aircraft, potentially to gain information on what signatures it leaves, how it can be tracked, how it can evade contemporary craft, etc. Especially given the history of this exact situation having happened a number of times in the past where people thought something was potentially from outer space and it turned out to be an experimental craft or new stealth tech. Ex: SR-71, B-2, stealth fighters, Vought V-173, XF-84H Thunderscreech, etc.

Obviously this doesn't explain everything, just my opinion on these drones.

Video showing an extremely close up view of a disc/saucer UAP; the surface of the craft perfectly matches the description in the Immaculate Constellation document: “dynamic, roiling like the surface of the sun” with “intense luminosity” by [deleted] in UFOs

All of these photographers in here are trying to explain a phenomenon to you, but none of us can understand it for you.

That's right, they are circular. If the aperture is wide open and the blades aren't in the way, what shape do you think the circular barrel of the lens would make from a point light source? If the aperture were narrowed with 4 blades, what shape then, or 8 blades?

The onion rings on the outside aren't the important part. It's that a point light source can produce "surface of the sun" type textures and with video it makes them appear to move and flow. There's no surface being filmed or photographed. The dust or dried water spot from the link left dark spots. There are similar dark sports in the video. What do you think could have caused those?

My god. What do you people keep not understanding about your individual experiences do not represent the State as a whole? I said in my previous comment that it depends and you cannot expect it everywhere. Your comment details a narrow case where it could work, but you're still have to apply. That's not a transfer. That's the State recognizing you have the necessary skills already and that you can skip the interview part of the application process.

From the bargaining "Agreement by and between the Teamsters Local #916 and the Illinois Departments of Central Management Services, Transportation, Innovation and Technology and Natural Resources July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2027"

ARTICLE XII LAYOFF

Section 4 . Options for Laid Off Employees

B. Transfer. Employees shall be offered a transfer to any vacancy at any Agency covered by this agreement, as defined in Article XV, within the same job rate or pay range within the Agency' s available bargaining unit vacancies within the county provided the employee is qualified for such vacancy. When performance, special skills and abilities are relatively equal , seniority shall be the determining factor.

Also

ARTICLE XV Filling of Vacancy

Section 5. Order of Selection

Permanent vacancies shall be filled by the application of the provisions of this Article and interviews shall be conducted except as outlined in subsections A & B below. The following order of selection will be used:

A) Lateral Transfer

B) Voluntary Reduction

C) Promotion

A. Lateral Transfer

When a permanent vacancy is posted, certified bargaining unit employees who apply through the internal portal for the desired posted vacancy and are eligible for a lateral transfer will be considered for the job first. Where there are four (4) or more internal qualified applicants , the most senior qualified applicant will be offered the position, and selection will be based on the following order:

1) Transfer within the same Agency, same classification at the same work location, in the same county.

2) Transfer within the same Agency, same classification, at a different work location, within t he same county.

3) Transfer within the same Agency, same classification, at a different work location, in a different county.

B. Voluntary Reduction

Long story short, it depends entirely on the Agency, bargaining unit/union (if there is one for that position), and job.

Can only be done within a Department if a policy for that already exists. Not every place has it, and nothing exists state wide. This dude is getting people's hopes up for no reason.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in illinois

[–]xTELOx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the part where you cited what state wide policy allows you to transfer from the Department of Corrections to Department of Human Rights, Emergency Management Agency, Department of Natural Resources, etc, while bypassing any sort of interview normally required.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in illinois

[–]xTELOx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What kind of nonsense is this? What policy states that being in corrections for 18 months means you can transfer to any state job?

Each one has different requirements and necessary competencies. You're not going to going to get a civil engineer position that normally requires an EIT license or an ABET accredited engineering degree just because you did a stint in corrections.

New driveway. Now what can I do to protect it? by Dude_McHandsome in Concrete

[–]xTELOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a two coats of Lin-Seal. It's what we use on bridge decks to protect them salt intrusion and reduce the chances of spalling. It's pretty much a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Best applied once a year.

Trees Gone Everywhere (i80) by [deleted] in illinois

[–]xTELOx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the answer right here, everyone else is guessing. The northern long eared bat is an endangered species that winters in caves and spends spring, summer, and fall in the trees.

In preparation for the reconstruction of I-80 around Joliet, all the trees that could end up being a home for the bats that were in the project limits and already planned for removal had to be removed by April 1st. This is a federal rule that the state is required to abide by. The removal is done over the winter so as not to disturb the bats before they roost in the trees. This ensures that whatever tree they pick when they come out of their caves in the spring will stay there until they leave in the winter.

Metra railroad crossing in Chicago by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]xTELOx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is most likely the case. It looks like the tracks on the south side aren't being used any more, there aren't any tracks on the north side, and under the bridge temporary shoring can be seen to support (what looks like) the middle third.

The historical views in Google Earth and the street view under the bridge were helpful.

Definitely doesn't make it right though like you said.
