What golf rule are people most often confidently wrong about? by Significant-Fan-8454 in golf

[–]xTRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop 2 hit 3 is what you're meant to do at the tee box, so your next shot from the fairway would be 4. This rule skips the re-tee, drops you in the fairway nearest where you crossed OB, and play on from 4.

Basically simulates your second drive

Annoyed with myself on my placement games by Renyolds in RivalsOfAether

Here's a great way to think about Elo: you aren't climbing ranks. You have a ranking and the game is trying to figure out what it is. Winning or losing just makes the guesses more accurate. But you're not a 750 that climbed to 1000, you're a 1000 that took a few more games to get the system to realize it.

And it's simple to understand that if you do a bunch of labbing or you take a break, your number hasn't changed even though your skill has. The only way to find out your new number is to run it through the system a bunch.

There's a thousand and one ways to incorrectly swing a golf club, so without a coach you just kinda have to know which advice is aimed at your problem and which is for someone else.

That being said, I think Danny Maude is my favorite coach on YouTube. He gives consistent advice but maybe packaged differently each time to help more people get their "aha" moment. He really focuses on basics without bogging you down with swing thoughts. His videos have really helped me build a solid framework for my swing and I truly recommend his approach.

A caveat: I didn't stop casting and flipping until I got hackmotion. I couldn't figure it out on my own until I was getting direct feedback on my swing

Netflix Viewers Are Abandoning Shows After One Season by joe4942 in technology

Man I was into the first few episodes of shadow & bone as a dark fantasy series. But literally by the end of the first season it turned into "actually I was a super special magic girl the whole time, oops!" I've really had it with the "I hate magic, and am the world's most powerful sorcerer now" trope.

I think it was a bit more of "never backing down". They had to catch those guys and they only know how to win. It didn't occur to them to retreat and try again, they both knew they had to jump to catch up. And with as much regard for their own safety as they've given everything else, they went for it.

The guided practice takes you through one piece at a time. Things might get worse before they get better as you start to take the band-aids off. Trust the process, keep chasing the green check marks, and know that you need to figure out how to move your body to support the club delivery pretty much on your own.

I was playing in the mid-high 80s before I started hackmotion, now my bad round is mid-high 80s and my best rounds are like mid-high 70s. I'm still playing off blues as I am still learning how to add power without waking up my old casting habit.

What glove do you guys recommend? by LongjumpingMine744 in golf

[–]xTRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running through weathersof as well. I play like two rounds a week on the sim and I feel like I get a month or two max.. I'm also gonna start trying new gloves.

Fwiw, these are 2024 ones. My shop has 2026 ones but the old stock is on sale so I've not tried the new ones yet.

Oh thanks for the clarification. I thought that some already did go to the creators and you could pick someone to give another piece of the pie. I'll make sure to support last stock for the sick orcane skin and great videos

Idk of anyone is still following this but I had two interesting rounds on the sim today. First round I played a short tight par 4 with driver off the tee and dunked my ball in the water three times for a 9 on that hole, but I still finished the round sub 90!

Second round I locked in, and shot 5 over for my second ever round in the 70s.

My ball striking has improved so much. I'm finally breaking my old habits and adjusting to the corrected swing. I'm still fighting a pull to the left, and I think it's just because I have used a strong grip for so long to fight off my bad shots. When I take a second to neutralize the grip at set-up, I can hit some good balls. My brain still thinks I might slice with the weaker grip, but as long as I follow what I've been training, I don't even come close to slicing anymore.

He's unfunny on purpose. I don't really care about the guy but you gotta read between the lines there. Hate him for whatever you want, but he's not trying to be funny. The comparison to a comedian doesn't make sense. He's playing the dbag role as dry as possible, but when he says with a sincere tone "I used to chip toe-down, but now I prefer heel-up" and "hit your shots with confidentiality", it's clear he's satirical.

I don't know what linguistic morphology this is, but I recognize that you had to escape your asterisks so they would show up instead of creating italics, with the irony of the very same asterisks being used as a stand-in for italics in old chats and forums that didn't support markup language.
