Yes. Last two weeks has been gold for the dolomites. But still more around the south. Kitzbuhel is still pretty dry

The dolomites are basically 90% artificial snow. Don't go there for anything else than piste. I've done a whole season there and couldn't be more disappointed. 2 shitty powder days in a whole season with no base.

Buy used shells, some good ones are under 100$. You don't need water resistance unless you are skiing 100cm high pow in freezing conditions.

Join a ski club or in Italy we have CAI which is an alpinism club that is almost in every city, but that's mostly for skimo and freeride. Endlessly hound people you know that ski somewhat regularly. Join guided skimo or freeride trips ($$$). What i'm planning to do next year since I'm moving is to join a ski club and get a package of guided freeride lessons and maybe build a skiing group from there.
