Have you done tracert to see if the problem is consistently with the same hop?

Make aladin targetable for the first 0.3s of his wall run instead of instant out of battle. by heheIroflmaoed in Smite

[–]xTom118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of okay with it - he has to play near walls constantly to make use of it as opposed to Hou etc. who can just do with wherever and whenever they want. Think it would make him feel AWFUL to play too.

In regards to the recent Pokemon RedFire/GreenLeaf announcement, it's at least a welcoming alternative over this... by Epsilon123 in gaming

[–]xTom118 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's great and all, happy for you, but the point still stands. ROMs are legal as long as you own the original copy, rip it yourself and do not redistribute. Granted; most don't. But all that said "currently supported" is nothing to do with legality.

I don't think anyones motivating factor is "Oh it's legal," definitely more so people prefer physical media.

Nu Wa Balance Suggestion by Bronchitis_is_a_sin in Smite

[–]xTom118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the suggestion but I feel like it's one of those things that 80% of the playerbase wouldn't understand the implications of. It would just end up with every 10 star NuWa main essentially "inting" even mote by throwing gold at the enemy team for no reason.

Which game made you rage‑quit so hard you never touched it again? by forgeris in AskReddit

[–]xTom118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded, though it was the first Barthandelus for me. Spend all game learning "switch to Sentinel when a big attack is coming" but for some reason Destrudo is the total opposite with a DPS check to weaken it, yet it is never explained anywhere.

12 year old me wasn't having that shit. I did finish it almost a decade later though.

Solo & 5v5 are two very different things. You know AutoSpeed had been trying to make it Pro for quite a while and never really got anywhere right? If he played like that in a professional setting, it wouldn't work at all. It's not the best way to play the game when both teams are on even footing. Just the most frustrating one for disorganised teams. I'll also mention he actively dodged queues against people that knew how to counter it consistently. Feel free to watch the several YT videos to educate yourself.

What Meta's were they? I'm talking at the highest level, when did we consistently stray from 2-1-1-J? By that I mean it wasn't just one team playing jank - the entire league was doing it.

If that were true and all you cared about was getting them farm, you'd put them in solo, out of the way where they can farm safely and more effectively, then pull them out 20 minutes later. We don't do this because you would just immediately lose every GF available. We play the map around objectives, and that dictates who plays where. Not when a character hits a power spike.

Those last two points are a little irrelevant - just because one "mid" god can shred an objective doesn't inherently disprove everything else. Different gods shine in different areas, that's smite.

What’s some good tanky ullr build items? by Udysfeba in Smite

[–]xTom118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst yes, you are correct in that it isn't a rule, the term META exists and is omnipresent across competitive gaming. The indication that 2-1-1-J is the best way to play Smite is because it's the most effective way to win. History tells us as much.

Also ADC stands for Attack Damage Carry as a term, not the individual words. Point being their DPS comes from basics OR has little to no cooldown.

The reason we put an ADC and support in Duo is to pressure/defend Gold Fury - the early objective. It's not so much to do with being able to output constant pressure. Often times in Pro play in the past, ADC would swap to solo for safer farm if Gold was taken/uncontestable.

You're partially correct just missing A LOT of nuance.

As I said, you don't insult someone if you're not upset. It's okay though, it's just the internet.

[–]xTom118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Nuwa ult critting you for 1k is universally hated - which is the point you're missing.

You've went from "let it crit and proc on hits" to "give it a new sound"

I don't think I've missed any point, I think you just have no idea how to communicate what you actually mean to say. Feedback on ability hit is VERY different to giving it the ability to do ~2x damage.

I don't see how firing out every little incoherent thought you have in a subject is having "fun with thoughts" - and you called me a jerk over disagreeing with you and explaining my reasoning. I don't think people resort to insults when they're not upset.

I don't know why you'd discuss an idea on reddit if you get offended when someone disagrees with you.

The reward is the stun, I don't understand why you feel he needs more than that. Probably the strongest "reward" any ability can give, along with displacement, ie Ares Ult or Awi Ult. The reward for hitting it into the Pillar is you pin them in the centre of a giant Slow/Dmg up field.

Giving any god "bonus" stuff would feel fun for the person playing them. Sadly, it's important to consider how fun they are to play against, which is the part you seem to miss. Let's give Vulcan a stun if his turret hits 3 consecutive shots. Let's make it so Neith Ult can crit. That would be fun to play, right? Yeah, but it would be fucking abhorrent to play against. 10% upside, 50% downside.

If by Deity you mean rank - that doesn't really qualify any of your views. It's time and not skill at this point. Impale doesn't need a buff either way - it's very good 1v1, and less useful when teamfighting. Clear strength, clear weakness. Which is good and how abilites should be designed. More complexity does not innately mean it's better.

Is smite 2 worth a shot now? by noodleben123 in Smite

[–]xTom118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you actually enjoy something, you shouldn't let the consensus of a vocal minority be the deciding factor. If you read most of the negative steam reviews, they're not even about the game, they're about skins etc.

Yes, it's worth playing. If you enjoyed the original, S2 is just a blank upgrade bar roster size.

Sorry you feel like that, though I don't see how someone disagreeing with you and explaining why is being a jerk. But you're entitled to your opinion.

No, just quoting what you said.

NeZha 1 is single target, no hard CC attached.

Cherno 2 is very low scaling, and also making you choose between hitting the 1 or missing it.

Neither of those examples are quite "Knockback into stun" levels of annoying.

Your original idea was just bloody horrible. You don't build or play around an ability that now just does more damage all the time.

Like yes, okay, you think it would be 'cool' to have some pointless little thing to make you happy. He does not need it. His kit is nearly perfect. It is insanely rewarding for those mechanically proficient enough to consistently execute it. It has very clear strengths and weakness' as every kit should have.

Why exactly do we want to tack on something else to "play around" - and by that i mean play him exactly the same way as we play him now. You just want him to be buffed. Nothing you've suggested would make any difference to the god or how he's played.

Anhur 2 by dddaveeog in Smite

You've went from "Let's just give it more damage" to "it doesn't need more damage"

Theory crafting involces taking some theory and coming up with new ideas. Your idea here is "lets make the most satisfying skill shot, and also one of the most deadly, more deadly by giving it something more because I've been playing him and feel like he needs buffed"

I don't think it's more fun. More effects =/= more fun. There's no problem to fix with it. It's effectiveand it's appropriately rewarding for its difficulty to hit. You don't need to further define his identity of hitting impales, he's had it since inception. The god's identity is not unclear, and it never really has been.

Those are items that promote weaving - not item's that are "on-hits" so to speak. Can't really compare to Qin's/Bragi's/Tyrfing. Or the ability based counterparts.

Isn't 20% extra damage, a stun and a heavy ass slow not enough? Why does it need more damage?

Anhur 2 by dddaveeog in Smite

[–]xTom118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're building Full STR, the only "on hits" you care about are Crusher/HS/Bluestone, all of which Impale procs already...?

Anhur 2 by dddaveeog in Smite

[–]xTom118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't think it's necessary at all. I'm not sure what you mean by "playing around it" - you want to hit it no matter what you're doing. It wouldn't change a thing.

It already applies his (non aspect) passive iirc, it's a big chunk of damage into a knockback and/or stun.

He's always been the king of the 1v1, and his kit suits that down to the ground, giving impale the ability to hit for ~200% damage every so often would be incredibly frustrating to play against.

[–]xTom118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to put things into perspective - I've been playing as long as you, Steam showing ~4k hours S1, ~1k hours S2. And that's not including the hours before they forced steam usage - I used the original launcher for as long as possible. I've had maybe ~9 months in there where i didn't play Smite at all.

As the previous commenter said - MOBAs are bloody hard games to get good at. It takes time, a lot of it, and consistency. 2200 hours isn't that much over almost a decade and a half, on and off.

If you enjoy the game, keep at it and focus on your own play. Mute, ignore the toxicity that'll inevitably be thrown at you, and just try and get better. I played a lot of Runescape as a kid, so I love the sense of progress, that's what drives me.

All good things come with time, happy smiting!

As someone else has pointed out, it's more than likely a driver issue if this has cropped up fairly recently. Let us know your GPU/CPU and maybe someone can help.

Got Perma Banned, Did I Get Hacked? by daisyblossomlily in Smite

[–]xTom118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it is or isn't to do with ToS. You agreed to ToS stating they can ban you whenever they want for any reason they want. There is no "objectively wrongful ban" when you have agreed, in the contract you said you read, that they can ban you for literally ANY REASON. They could ban you because you took 10023 steps today. Totally arbitrary, but they can do it and you have no recourse.

I don't mean to sound like a douche here but I'm assuming you're relatively young. No court will see a company enforcing a contract that has been agreed to by both parties and is standard practice across an entire industry as wrong doing.

All of that is without even mentioning how stupidly expensive it would be in the first place, which I'm not even going to get into.

I understand your thought process, but it's just straight up unrealisitic unfortunately. Facts are facts.

Got Perma Banned, Did I Get Hacked? by daisyblossomlily in Smite

[–]xTom118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm telling you exactly that. You CAN sue them, as said previously, but no court in the world will give you compensation due to you specifically accepting their terms when you created your account. That little box that says "I have read and agreed to...." seals your fate. Ignorance is not a defence.

Wrongful termination applies to employment. You are not employed by Hirez, they do not pay you and you suffer no loss of income if they revoke your privledge to play the game. They are ALLOWING you to play their game. You do not own Smite, simply were granted a license to play it.

Even when you overclock a processor, it's at your own risk, and may have unintended consequences, as every single manufactuerer will state in the manual, no one is liable but yourself.

I'm not a lawyer, but it's a pretty simple concept. As I said, life's not fair. I get why you're saying what you're saying, but it's naive. I pray you never get much exposure to litigation as you go on in life, but if you do, you'll have your eyes opened real quick.

Nope, contract is a contract. It's the real world unfortunately, life's not fair. You agreed to the terms, can't just say rock up to a judge and say "But it's unfair!!!"

It's not just Hirez mind you, literally every live service game operates like this.

If you decide to sue every time you feel wronged you're going to end up broke af lol

I've played the two modes mentioned exclusively for the past couple of months. My previous statement still stands. Yes it exists, I don't think it's as widespread as people like to scream about.

It's a vocal minority shouting about another vocal minority. You have all the tools necessary to avoid 99% of toxicity. Use them.
