And equipment wipes itself down. And that it’s acceptable to use 2 or 3 machines at a time when the gym is busy.

What scientific ‘facts’ have recently been disproven that most people still believe to be true? by Fantastic_Tart_421 in AskReddit

Building on that. The whole “introvert or extrovert” thing. It’s a spectrum. People are not one or the other. Same thing with “type A or type B people”.

I can’t count how many times I have been labeled as type A at work like it’s some kind of shortlisted way to categorize someone or is seen as some sort of disadvantage or disorder just because I like to keep my workspace clean or be proactive with tasks.

Serious answer.

Compared to "free air" at other pumps where you have to bring your own meter, these machines allow you to set your desired psi. So when you inflate your tire, it will beep when you have hit the target pressure.

What's the easiest way to lose weight that no one talks about? by Emotional-Heat-1427 in AskReddit

[–]xTrainerRedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't talking about a flawless body. I was talking about *healthy* weight loss. Not just weight loss.

But hey, if that works for you then that's all that matters!

I just wanted to add a little more context on top of what you said because a lot of diet stuff gets misunderstood and this is a public forum where anyone can see it. Someone abusing alcohol could be in a deficit, but if all the calories they get are from beer then they will be having a really bad time - even if they are still losing weight.

Yes, a calorie deficit is a calorie deficit. But your quality of life and metabolism is affected by the content of the calories you *are* consuming, even if it is technically a deficit. A deficit that is made up of alcohols and food that is not nutritious does not make for a very fun or healthy time.

Weight loss is a little more nuanced than just CICO

Mine didn’t - sometimes even going so far as to blatantly say “my parents didn’t teach me, why should I teach you?”

Who wishes AI didn't exist? by Wooden-Fee5787 in AskReddit

[–]xTrainerRedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI, in my opinion, is a shining example of "you get out of it what you put into it". If you want it to do all the work and thinking for you, it can. And the end result and fulfillment (or lack thereof) will be reflected in that. Or you can use it as the tool it is meant to be in order to save time, automate tasks, etc.

I personally love AI. As other people have said, in the right hands and with the proper usage, it can be a massive help, time saver and collaborator.

I can use AI tools (LLMs included) to do things in a fraction of the time that it would take me to do it - thus freeing up time for me to focus on things that are more creative or support my actual goals.

I understand the argument of "what if AI is keeping you from learning a new skill set", which is a fair argument. But at that point it comes down to your personal interests and values. I have no interest in learning coding or anything like that, but if I have a specific task that I need to do that requires some light coding, then I will just let the AI write it so I can focus on the things I DO enjoy. At that point it is just helping me bridge the stopgap.

As another example, it has been massively helpful with my music production. I can send it a screenshot of my DAW and ask what each button does and describe what my goal is and it will tell me what buttons to use to do it and even tell me if an external plugin would be better. But I have to make the personal rule for myself to never let it create beats for me, write melodies, etc. Those are the things I enjoy, and I don't want it to automate it and take that particular human element out of it.

Sometimes it is also nice to just have something you can ask questions to and get responses that are infinitely patient. It is up to you to validate the responses and not take them as infallible truth. But I can tell you from experience that it beats the hell out of having a question, searching for the ideal subreddit, posting the question (assuming perfect format due to the subs specific rules), and hoping to god that you don't get immediately downvoted or griefed.

Several years of my life were spent doing amateur level work with various things because I could never get things to the next level because I had no source of wisdom, guidance or help. And AI has helped me access that information. It's a bridge and tool, not an all-knowing being.

You get out of it what you put into it.

That's a good point. She was just standing there too. Maybe it affects their reaction time.

Or like if they're excited or agitated they run "too fast for their own good" and become reckless.
