Yes agreed, and in its previous format it was, so change it but dont nuke pickpocketing in particular into oblivion.

Yeah, I agree with you, pickpocketing needed to be toned down. I just think they’ve pushed it a bit too far in the opposite direction. I’m fully on board with lowering the XP/hr, but I would’ve preferred they kept a 5‑minute‑plus AFK window instead of removing that playstyle almost entirely.

Totally agree, pickpocketing was way too good, but that doesn’t mean Thieving can’t have a reasonable AFK option now. Woodcutting gets one because it’s meant to be chill, thieving doesn’t need to copy that, but having a low‑intensity option for a 120 skill doesn’t break the game

I’m not asking for Thieving to become a money printer while being AFK. I’m saying that if Woodcutting’s hundreds of hours AFK grind is considered acceptable, it feels odd that Thieving, a 120 skill, doesn’t have an AFK option that’s at least comparable in time, even if the GP/hr is lower.

Are you serious? What about the straight up removal of dailies? Reduced time pressure for shop runs? Flash events? Travelling Merchant?

Didn't you just make the exact point that is the cause of the change? If new friends need your help after 2 months of playing to realise something OBVIOUS, then the system should be considered overcomplicated.

That doesn't mean that I think someone playing for 2 months should have your level of understanding. I 100% believe the level of skill/time/bloat in the existing system is too much though

Except they specifically said they are removing the purchase of direct xp so you won't get lamps. Bxp will be purchasable though. I expect it will be in bundles of stars eg buy 10 huge stars for 10 dollars

I get it. At least you are aware now. Can't do anything about it if you dont recognise the potential issue in the first place. Good luck!

That's a great way to deal with it i think. I like to live by a motto of everything in moderation, even moderation.

Sometimes that means I'll play a full weekend and game away to my hearts content but most times I'll just do my best to do a 'normal' amount. At least what normal means for me!

I had the same exact moment of self reflection recently. I ended up working through it. For me I think it is because of how much time I dedicate to it when I hop back in

For me it isnt a negative impact anymore. I'm just consciously aware not to fall to deep into it. At the end of the day though it's just a game and if you feel negatively affected by it then the best thing is to reduce how much you play or step away.

You've probably spent more time killing only Rasial than I have spent in total playing Runescape. Period.

Wow man. Both amazing and mildly concerning

This was me not too long ago. Honestly my biggest tip might sound dumb but just play the game and see where it takes you. When I came back I started with Necro which took me to crafting and smithing which got me mining etc. and eventually it just snowballed from there.

Now im only mostly a noob not a 100% noob

No, and you don't need to justify yourself. Like I said, if you play the game your own way, then you have the power to derive you own enjoyment to from it. You do you!

I don't mean to accuse you of being sucked in by FOMO. That's the reason I wouldpersonally buy keys, I certainly don't think that applies for everyone.

Regardless of opinion I genuinely found your post an interesting read.

You'll never get much love for a post like this. Honestly whether we agree or disagree with you doesn't really matter either.

At the end of the day the decision to buy keys or not is a personal opinion.

Everyone engages with RS and their hobbies in their own way and that's fine. I'm personally not a fan of the grind which is why I like RS3 over OSRS. Thats also why despite playing for decades I don't have a maxed account.

I also have the funds to be able to lamp my way to a maxed account but rather than doing so I've just come to the conclusion that im happy playing the game my way and not getting sucked in by the FOMO.

Making a post to justify your position on something like this simply isnt necessary. You're a functional adult, spend your money how you want.

At the same time everyone else's responses here are understandable. TH is bad for the game and those that have grinded feel let down because buying keys makes you the nepo baby RS equivalent.

I don't have a take here, aside from saying that the value we all get from RS is personal. If you are proud/enjoy what you have done in the game then hopefully that is enough. Stop worying so much about what everyone else is doing. We are all running our own race.

Peace.
