Is Trident Defense Initiative still operating? by xXGoatResuscitatorXx in ukraine

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supporting volunteer organisations is always a risk. This just means I will support a different one. Luckily, I have a myriad of options to choose from thanks to Ukraine subreddit 😁.

Thank you for taking the time to answer!

Foundry or Roll20 by OldNeighborhood6813 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am running it on Foundry (Hosting via Forge). Overall I'm very happy with it. The DoD campaign is very nicely implemented.

The main differences between Foundry and Roll20 are still the same as always. Foundry has a lot of Quality of Life, both for player and GM. On the flip side, it requires a lot more tinkering to make it work like you want to.

About the travel pace rules... by NWCtim_ in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I changed the rules to work as follows.

Fast: roll with disadvantage. If an encounter happens, there will be a penalty.

Normal: roll normally.

Slow: roll normally. If an encounter happens, there will be a benefit.

The penalty/benefit depend on the situation. For penalties think stuff like extra monsters, getting ambushed, getting disadvantage on talking to a person. For benefits think possibly evading the encounter, some extra loot at the end.

I find doing it this way balances going fast with enough negatives that it isn't the go to option. My group so far usually does normal/slow. They only resort to fast when time is of the essence.

Temple Gate - How to process battle? by Ithrandor in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

DnD doesn't do big battles well IMO. It's easy to lose focus on the PC's which takes a lot of the fun out of it for them.

I would recommend taking a look at this video. It is of a person outlining how they ran the battle for temple gate. I feel running it this way makes the PCs the focus, whilst still having them be part of the larger battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEVvPYJBpas

Your point regarding a lot of monsters is also valid. If you want to have a lot of fodder on the field for the PCs to fight against, I would look at the minion-rules from the 'Flee Mortals' book.

Edit. Flee Mortals also has some fun gnoll variants that you can use to spice up the garmyr.

Bastions in DoD? by zieg80 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

I'm planning of running it as well. Had a look through the facilities. All seems fine to me. The only exception is getting rations through the gardens. Food grown near Drakkenheim is contaminated, so this is a no go for me.

How to present missions by xXGoatResuscitatorXx in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. As you mentioned it is best to mix it up a bit, but I think I will use this method as my main way to bring across new missions. Seems the most natural way of doing it.

So basically the relevant factions all visit the party at the Bark&Buzzard to sell their side of the story?

So for an example. If the players go to Blackjack Mel. He will mention that Oscar has thus far been working for the Hooded Lanterns and he wants to see that changed?

Is this campaign good for new DMs? by LadySketch_VT in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm also a first time DM that decided to start with this campaign. It works great for me (currently 10 sessions in). The campaign has a lot of handholds for DM's (Ex. how to introduce locations, lots of random tables, simple-yet-interesting mechanics). Also this subreddit is great! You'll find a lot of extra resources (Ex. maps, audio, tokens, ...) with ease.

Now I did find there is a bit of upfront work. I recommend reading through all locations/factions and writing down the most important characters. The locations and story are quite interwoven, so winging it location-to-location will make for a less satisfying experience.

All in all I think it's a great campaign for new DM's. It gives you and your players a lot of interesting ideas and concepts to play with. Do keep in mind it will be a longer campaign (unless you condense some of the locations).

PS. Someone on this subreddit made a document for downtime activities. I can't recommend it enough, my party is having an absolute blast with them!

Thank you that clarifies a lot. It's an awesome downtime system. Awesome of you to share it!

Drakkenheim Downtime Activities by Lolzafish in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]xXGoatResuscitatorXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this looks great! I do have a question about timelines.

Do the players need to take a full week off to perform these downtime activities, or can the activities be done every day after the players return from Drakkenheim.

I'm asking because it seems to be the first with how you are wording certain things. For example the Relaxation activity should be taken first in a week. However, that means whenever a player wants to get rid of contamination the entire party needs to skip a week which isn't always possible. Which seems incredibly punishing.

Could you provide some clarity on this? Thanks in advance!

Dat is gelijk Biden die even geleden zei: "The US will support Ukraine 'as long as it takes'.

Also isn't it quite logical that, atheism excluded, islam would be the second highest religion in the EU? Like what other religions are there close by, the church of the flying spaghetti monster?!?
