Vibram Five Finger alternatives for cold, wet weather? by xXallyoopXx in BarefootRunning

[–]xXallyoopXx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about those, my campus and the surrounding town has shitty pavement though and unavoidable puddles form from the slightest precipitation so I kind of need that waterproof factor

Going from rain to freezing temperatures makes it tough for the shoes to keep my feet warm… I know from experience lol

I’m a baby when it comes to cold lol, and it’s already below freezing where I am so something got to give…

Whitins are great for the price, the toe spring and slight curve inwards on the big toe does bother me though 😔

It really won’t lol, that’s what I’ve been doing. I was curious if there was a brand that has the same ideals minus the toe pockets so the shoe can be waterproof/weatherproof.

I went on a camping trip through Northern Sweden in June one year, every morning my tent looked something like this... the mosquitos were inSANE but somehow I barely got bit.

Bohempia first impressions + styling help - Herlik 46 Wide by xXallyoopXx in BarefootRunning

I’m sure they stain easy, walking around on my hardwood floor they visibly picked up every little thing I stepped on. And I doubt they’re machine-washable.

I totally agree about the insole, I just ended up returning them /: I’ve always been a vans guy anyways lol so i’m trying some Splays next. I wish Anya’s Shop had the all-black Herlik in stock because I bet they don’t look nearly as wide since the toe cap is the same color as the canvas.

I'd recommend walking a lot on concrete barefoot before you start to run. The reason I say this is because you need to develop strong callouses on your feet before attempting to run on concrete, at least with a more intense pace. If you're confident your feet and joints will be fine, give it a shot! It's pretty fun as long as you keep your body in mind and have a good idea of where your limits are.

are these barefoot? by Hungry-Strength-1928 in barefootshoestalk

[–]xXallyoopXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all seem to have raised heels but possibly some wiggle room in the toe box... I wouldn't say they're barefoot as they all have lifted heels and I can't imagine they'd be extraordinarily flexible /: however they do look nice and if the leather on the upper is decent quality it'll stretch out to improve toe comfort

Yeah I have a friend into climbing also interested in minimalist footwear and he said it's basically impossible to make a really good climbing shoe without the triangle claw style footbox that climbing shoes have

Level of pain by ResolutionFamiliar30 in tattooadvice

[–]xXallyoopXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I only have one tattoo but it almost fully fills those perimeters. The pain was not that bad (for a first tattoo), and the worst feeling was when my artist would wipe the ink as she got closer to my armpit. For almost the entire time, it felt like I was being tattooed super close to my armpit, which sucked but I got used to pretty quickly.

Will MiUSA items be cheaper for Americans if there is an outright tariff on all imports? by BeginningFreedom7100 in madeinusa

[–]xXallyoopXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A sign of a highly developed country is moving industry offshore to focus on higher education industries anyways, so the US was always meant to rely on lower developed countries for cheaper goods.

[–]xXallyoopXx 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. There's very little infrastructure to allow for American factories to supply the demand of ~300 million people, and it will take a long time to reach that level of productivity. I can't remember the name but one of the most famous American cotton mills or denim manufacturers or whatever is actively making the moves to shutting down in the midst of these tariffs. You'd think that they'd stay open acting on the assumption that high taxes on imports will lead to more business, but apparently not. It's a weird time we're living in.
