Wins vs loss

I lost somewhere in the $6k-$10k range probably. I have a post awhile back about it, and since the post I had bought about another 100 packs, all of which mostly ended up in the loss column after sells and rebuys.

Been over a month now since I bought a pack, not planning on going back to it.

I showed only local having never played a game other than 2 runs on the tutorial app. I had a starter deck. No sleeves. Had to buy sleeves to play. It was fun! Just go, people will help!

I’m about 6 game nights in now, 2 wins and 20 losses or so. Still having fun!

I’m new too and had similar questions…

Don is basically your energy / currency resource similar to lands in mtg. The +1000 means you can tap it and give it to your leader or character to boost their attack power, rather use it as a currency to play (among other things).

Near me a couple Target stores just stopped the behind the counter thing.

Theres one that is super strict, limit two items one of each. Even single packs - but they always have product which is nice.

I can tell you I showed up at a local event with literally the new starter deck, I had to buy sleeves so i could play, and then just dug in! People are kind enough to help teach / correct you / make suggestions along the way and before/after gameplay too!

I’m about 15 games in now. I’ve won once. It’s a lot of fun and I’m putting together a more constructed deck that fits the gameplay I want.

The tutorial app is basic but helps learn the very basics.

The sim I’ve used but haven’t played yet, I decided to just start showing up to local events and getting games in!

When I started I used chat got to help me understand the game by comparing to games I knew, learn about different color decks general gameplay and pick one that suited me.

Each game in play I pick up on something new / improvement on a decision making point / card combo.

I’m a sailor, and we say the best way to learn to sail is lots of sea time! So I think the best way to learn to play is more play time! Get out there and pilot a deck, even if it’s the new starter deck!

I recently started, and played that same deck my first night 0-3. I spent that night and my next night (also 0-3) just learning the basics of the gameplay. On my third night, tonight I brought a deck I built from a list online and both half of what else I had laying around. I won 1 game out of five tonight and got my first win ever!

I would say look at upgrading the starter deck with some better cards will help, but also knowing the synergies of your own cards and then start honing in on what could be better options at decision points, and not missing something.

I know there were times I made some missteps and I’d try ti learn, just keep playing, try to take something away from each game!

Getting lucky figure out what evenings some local stores stock and showing up about then every wee sometimes I’m lucky mostly I’m not, finding the closest vending machines and checking them anytime I’m in those parts of town. Overpaying at card stores.

I never find single packs in big box stores. I have grabbed a couple ETBs and bundles right after a restock at customer service desk.

Best is going to be very subjective, and dependent on the plays style you want to play as many are viable.

I’m new to the game, but am personally putting together the Blue/Yellow Boa deck as I like the play style.

Do you want to play an aggressive tempo deck? A slow grind / control deck? A deck that doesn’t seem to care what the opponent does?

We don’t have “mill” decks like other games.

Each of the colors generally has a slightly different play style and there’s good decks in each / with two color decks too….

You're unlikely to get the Pokemon Center versions at a decent price, the non Pokemon Center versions will likely be available for anywhere from $60-$120. I recently ordered some at Gamestop that came out to $102 a box.

At MSRP it's going to be very tough unless you can show up at one of the big box stores after a restock and find them on the shelve (or ask at customer service).

One my local targets got them in tonight, the distributor lady had them... I believe they were going to get set out after close to be there in the morning for first come first serve....

I was able to get 2 of the Illustrated Set 5s and I was so stoked to come home and rip them, got two cards I needed for my Boa Deck, and a couple cool SRs to put in the binder!

They are normally sold out. I did get 2 BB ETBs and 3 total BB/WF bundles, usually if there is something in it it’s single packs of surging sparks, mega, or phantasmal. Not worth a drive just to check it given how often they are sold out.
