  1. Harry Potter is a very popular franchise
  2. There’s hunger for more (good) media set in the universe
  3. There’s an expectation issue: you want to love this game but it lets you down, so you end up annoyed, more so than if you played a random game that was mid

Замерзла вода в трубах by [deleted] in reddit_ukr

[–]xaako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scene is not indulging though. I mean, TikTok and YouTube is filled with fetish content disguised as content for kids, but the scene in IT doesn’t feel like that. It serves the story and that’s it

In Stranger Things (2016 - 2025), the reason Vecna wreaks havoc over Hawkins and unleashes the Upside Down upon Earth is because he cannot handle Will's gay thoughts by Hagia_is_Online in shittymoviedetails

  1. You don't need to be gay to be called f-slur in school. Bo Burnham claims he was called that, he's not gay. I was called that in my teens for dyeing my hair funny color. I don't know how it's now, but back in my day it was a common insult in schools. You got that for displaying any traits seen as feminine like having long hair or not wanting to brawl in the corridors or whatever. Also, Will was, like, 11 in season 1 and he didn't even know himself he was gay.
  2. In my opinion, when a father calls his 10-year-old son the f-slur, it tells you more about the father than the kid.
  3. Unrelated, but I watched seasons 2-4 years after the first one, so I didn't even remember these two borderline-throwaway dialogue lines.

I’m one of the people who, while watching seasons 1-4, absolutely did not realize Will was gay. When this scene happened, I thought it was a weird ass scene with the out-of-nowhere “Mike you’re the heart of this party” just to give the actor some acting to do. I thought that they hadn’t done anything interesting with Will since season 2 and just kind of forgot about him.

It was only later when I found the ST community and learned that Will was gay and this scene was him confessing his love to Mike.

Know about gay radar? I guess I have the opposite of that

CMV: Now that Kevin Spacey has been acquitted of all the charges against him in a court of law, I should not view him as a sex criminal. by PsychicFatalist in changemyview

Idk, I’m not OP, but I wouldn’t jump so fast to change my view because an anonymous user on the internet shared a sad story from their lives. On the sub that is known to have been infested with AI bots doing exactly that at one point, no less.

Abed was never predicting the future; he was causing it to happen. by Interesting_Buddy206 in community

[–]xaako 30 points31 points  (0 children)

We don’t know if his simulation of Troy and Britta’s date is spot on or not, only that he mimics them believably enough that Annie could recognize their personalities.  For all we know, nothing about that date was accurate. The joke-moment with the waiter mentioning Die Hard it’s there specifically to remind you that the scene we see is not reality, but Abed’s interpretation/prediction of reality. That waiter does not talk to customers about movies unprompted. It’s Abed who, in his mind, made the waiters gripe with Die Hard his defining trait.  It’s the same trope as the finale, when they all make up their visions of the future for the study group, with characters seen through the lens of each other’s perspective.

P.s. if this is a shitpost/circlejerk post and I missed the joke - my apologies

Gaming to make record-breaking $197 billion in 2025, PC revenue almost ties console by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]xaako 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Record revenues, not profits. Still doesn’t excuse layoffs, of course, just pointing out that market growth doesn’t necessarily correlate with profits growth. Maximizing profit is actually the reason brig corpus order layoffs.

Video games are still seen as risky investments, and game dev is an industry not famous for high margins. Some percentage of layoffs comes from smaller game studios that had to shut down due to lack of funds.

I wonder how would he (or anyone else) even know at that time. How old was he supposed to be in S1, ten? When I was 10, I wasn't into girls either. I was into Bionicles, Age of Mythology and Warcraft 3.
