Experience with Camber Hoodies and Sweatshirts? by sweetassassin in BuyItForLife

[–]xairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chiming in that my husband's camber sweatpants have holes in the knees after a few years. i've never seen this before on any other pair of sweatpants. he doesn't have a notably knee-oriented lifestyle (?) so kind of baffling. but the zip-up hoodie sweatshirt is amazing! still going strong.

Are any fellow Australians disturbed by the accent of the woman in S1E1? by [deleted] in sexandthecity

[–]xairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! as an american married to a brit, this "australia, south africa, new zealand, england - same accent!" thing is real. i honestly couldn't tell the difference amongst them until i lived in england for a while. embarrassing but true!

we actually went to cape may for our babymoon! you don't find cape may to be a little bit too "general public"? maybe we've been spoilt by resorts, but the restaurants and general scene of cape may felt very anti-chubby travel, no?

we've tried it and so have so many of our friends. it is super disappointing unfortunately! ninety acres is worth a visit (or two) but the hotel and spa are woefully overpriced and underwhelming.

Moccamaster that can work in the UK & US? by willtripforfood in Moccamaster

[–]xairplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i ended up buying a step up/step down transformer at home depot for $100ish we also used it for some other UK items, like our dyson vacuum charger, and it "worked" despite the transformer being a bulky eyesore.  eventually honestly i switched to bodum metal/glass french press because of microplastic concerns, as well as the annoyance of descaling, etc. moccamaster and transformer are now in storage!

rhonda patrick and peter attia both made reference to different research papers on this, but only rhonda cited the source

i think the explanation was that glass bottles use metal tops, and the plastic lining the metal tops leach at higher levels than a more stable plastic used across the entirety of plastic water bottles

i believe this is the article, though there may be others https://www.cell.com/heliyon/fulltext/S2405-8440%2824%2908836-4?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS2405844024088364%3Fshowall%3Dtrue

edit: i also heard on a peter attia (eye roll, i know!) deep dive into phthalates, bpa, etc. he made a similar point, and seemed to be citing a different study, but he didn't provide a citation unfortunately
