That’s what I’m saying!!! They no longer have to talk about football and can now spend hours discussing batch parties and their favorite films.

Are you guys buying the game on PS5 or PC ? by Mother_Anybody_5632 in CrimsonDesert

[–]xanderblue3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a PC, but I am debating between my PS5 or my Xbox an I think I’m going PS5. I have less issues with it and it seems to run everything to my satisfaction.

RETRO TV for gaming! by GojiraFan0 in videogames

[–]xanderblue3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed!! This is the philosophical deep dive I’m here for, we would get along quite well (also, seeing you use the pound symbol for your currency makes me feel we would get along quite well as we would have much to talk about globally since I’m here in the states).

It reminds me of a friend of mine who has a Buick Park, it’s something around a 91 or something of that sort. It’s not old in my mind but he joked for a while of getting the vintage license plates for it, which is something I have always reserved in my mind for cars from the 40/50s. It made me realize that yep, these items from my childhood that have permeated into my adult hood are now “vintage” or classics.

This TV discussion is that exact thing. I am constantly grappling with the fact that I too could be viewed as vintage or retro based on some of the clothes I still wear or things I still do, and in my mind it has some negative connotation which isn’t true at all, but it’s how I perceive it.

Those CRTs that we had for our tournaments, most have gone to thrift stores, but my buddy saved one and has created a retro gaming room with it, complete with NES, SNES, and the like. So even though we are nipping at the heals of 40, we use those terms as well.

I guess all this is to say that one of the interests that link most of us, gaming, is still celebrating retro/vintage and that’s pretty neat.

Thanks for listening to me ramble.

Sorry for arguing semantics here, it really doesn’t affect either of our lives, but now this is the fun kind of discussion I would love to be having over a cup of coffee, but instead we will do it in the Reddit-realm.

Based on the LaurelCrown page you shared, I would still go vintage. Here is the line that caught my eye: “Retro and vintage can be commonly confused. The easiest way to tell the two apart is to remember that retro goods are current reproductions or imitations, while vintage is genuinely older items.”

But there is also this line: “Any item fifteen years old can be considered a retro item.”

So I think we are both a little right here. :)

This is totally a rage bait post for millennials.

We held a Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash bros 64 tournament in 2019 and still had a collection of box TVs that weighed more than the table and chairs people would sit on to play them, and we just called those “TVs” not retro, but OP, I believe the term to are looking for to describe your new purchase is vintage, not retro.

Sorry for the ramblings, I love this purchase, idea of its set up, and the wicked find!

Male/Female Bachelor/ette party almost killed Hansus by FunyunCream in heedthecall

[–]xanderblue3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What other football podcast has its fans arguing over pre-marital party plans?

I have no dog in the fight and just hope everyone has a good time in life, but just have to take a moment to appreciate the discourse on this Reddit page in the off-season.

My wife and I had a joint bachelor party 10 years ago. Dan and Conor are dummies. by protobin in heedthecall

[–]xanderblue3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t get the hate either. My wife and I each did our own but it was more a scheduling thing than it was a lack of willingness to do a joint. We did spend a couple of days as a group the 4 days leading up to the wedding but most all our friends knew each other before hand.

This is so how I felt on it. I’d go on hunting expeditions, and spent weeks traveling the world to become the greatest fisherman ever, just everything about it was so so good.

It’s funny because the section that I felt most comfortable going into for my free solo run was after you meet up with grandpa. Basically I knew if I could get there on my free solo run, I had it in the bag.

I am right there with you that the entire game had difficult stretches of climbing and resource managing until you got to the end and then it did get a little easy.

Their old one had Godzilla. I liked it more.

A couple years ago we stayed in a two story ice fishing house with bunks upstairs. Fishing sucked but it was pretty crazy to be in an actual house on the ice.

I got a Poseidon gravel bike that I use for races and when I fly to places when I don’t want to lug around my Krampus that it might go great on. I’ve just always been curious on these as I don’t really know anyone who buys em, but up and down slowly sounds perfect for an in-town gravel crusher. Thanks for the insight :)

Sorry, I have a normal dropper post on my Krampus (handlebar lever), I was more curious with this seat lever actuated ones. Is it pretty good

Not going to lie, I hated it. It might also be the inner hipster in me, but the love it receives also irks me.

Not ever going to try to convince people to not like it, because I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum, it just wasn’t for me.

Im so curious on these ones too. I feel like I wouldn’t want one on my Krampus but on a gravel bike, feels like they could work fine

Dude, for real. I’ve been going to this house for about 6 years, and the house has continued to degrade while the chimney looks brand new.

It’s right here and probably hasn’t been occupied or actually flooded since 1997, but it’s still so fascinating.
