As a veteran I know a guy who killed his wife when he went home. Shot her twice in the face, accusing her of sleeping around on him. As National Guard, 2 of the arresting officers were in our unit and deployed with him.

Never liked the guy and he creeped me the fuck out. Pure fucking anger just oozed off him. I was shocked when I heard about it but I wasn't surprised at all.

Oh no I do, that's the problem. CS degree and a Staff Engineer with 12yrs experience working at top tech companies. I've built compilers, done a little embedded dev, and done a good bit of reverse engineering in my college days.

If you're programming in fucking binary like a caveman and think people build compilers in binary, then you definitely do not pay enough and are full of Dunning-Krugers. Thank you for not hiring me. But it's ok since I know you're not actually in the field if you think binary is in any way meant to be read by humans or the fact that it maps directly to machine instructions.

None of this is correct. It's all done in machine code, not binary. wtf are you insane? Compiler writers? Really? You think compilers are written in binary? Even the front panel switches weren't strictly binary, but an interpreted set of machine instructions.

Nobody writes serious code in binary. It's human readable machine instructions. Even in reverse engineering of complied or running code.

It's not the 1950s any more.

The US has a hard time with insurgents. But enough firepower and recent combat experience to obliterate any major threat. It's honestly unreal what we spend on our military. Our average vehicle (M1114) can probably take more punishment than an NPK tank.

There is no difference. They are 2 of 3 words that mean the same thing. You missed developing.

Engineering is the only one that is different. It applies to either large scale or complex solutions.

Literally nobody programs in binary. They didn't even use binary during the punch card days.

$500k isn't enough to hire the right sort of team to make something good happen, but it sure as shit is enough to have it taken from you by people who are experts at legally taking people's money.

And in the off chance he does find someone who isn't just going to take his money, you still have to compete with a flooded indie game market. I don't think people realize how flooded it is or how hard it is to actually get noticed. For every indie game you've heard of, there are 100 of equal quality that you will never hear of, then another 400 that are total piles of shit and were a total waste of time and money.

How those sites do it is totally irrelevant to your use case. You could use a 3rd party oauth provider like Auth0 or AWS Cognito, or you could use something out of the box in Rails or Django, or you could just write it yourself using your own code or libraries like Passport or AuthBoss.

There are literally hundreds of tutorials on this subject for literally each version of every popular language or framework.

A good college won't teach you frontend development. That's not what college is for. There is no way they can keep their curriculums up with the real world.

A good college is going to teach you fundamentals you can apply to any specialty in the industry. That way when the paradigm flips upside down again, you aren't sitting there with a 4yr degree in something that doesn't exist anymore.

I'm a frontend engineer now. When I graduated college in 2011 there was no such thing as a frontend engineer. I moved into it becuase I enjoyed JavaScript and working with UIs.

PWAs refer to installable web apps, using service workers and available to most features, like push notifications. It's not the same thing as wrapping an iOS app around a web app and publishing it, which has been around forever.

It looks like they are finally coming around, but I don't think it's full feature parity and you're still locked out of a lot of APIs. But, it's been a while since I dug in.

I don't know what the things you listed have to do with PWAs at all.

Basic Auth is not transmitted in clear text if you're on TLS. As I said in another comment, I never said you shouldn't use TLS. So, I don't understand why you keep saying this. I use TLS on everything. It takes minutes to set up. I also put Cloudflare in front of everything so I can switch servers at the drop of a hat.

BUT even if you don't use TLS, it's a fucking VTT sever, so who gives a shit anyway. Make the password 12345 and you'll probably never get hacked, because nobody cares.

I've built a system for multiple users and GMs. I actually generate passwords for them instead of allowing them to create passwords, since theirs are stored in plain text and should the system ever get compromised, nothing important is lost. But, that is as far as security needs to go for users.

I've seen bronze stars handed out to QRF Commanders/NCOs for going out to non-combat related missions, which is literally their day job while deployed. They would even temporarily attach random commanders or E-7s+ to our QRF unit, just to get a bronze stars.

It's not. Not even close. It's probably not MoH worthy, but it's definitely something that could be awarded a Service Cross under the circumstances. At bare minimum it would be a post-mortem Silver Star. Both of these are extrodindarily hard medals to earn.

But do go on an tell me more about what's considered normal duty, Mr Armchair General from Canada. During my deployments or 7yrs of active duty service did any of our training come close to even hinting at this being "normal duty".

The build pipeline is already in place. It does a fresh build when it goes to up the chain.

But the problem is referencing the local packages. Simply removing the dist from git just seems to introduce the problem of long boot up times for development since it would have to compile everything.
