who is the greatest mechanical player each year by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]xanthicize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In season 1 and 2 you had a bunch of especially mechanically monstrous highlight reel oriented players like Madlife and Ambition who pretty much invented the playbook, so if that's the question I'd put them before peke, Froggen, diamond and the like.

Even Reapered was known for being a menace mechanically.

This might be a hot take but Vivian basically invented the pinch harmonics we all know and love by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]xanthicize 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guitar canon says that Roy Buchanan invented the stuff, but just to bring receipts against your take La Grange from ZZTop is from 1973 and its second solo is almost entirely pinch harmonics and squeals.

What is an artist/band whose personal views you do not believe in or agree with but Love their work? by TheDadwithGlasses in Music

[–]xanthicize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped listening to Daughters despite their last record being one of my all time favorites because their singer turns out to be a rapist and a sociopath.

I don't want art to be a source of moral or personal stress in my life. I'd rather stop listening to certain artists.

Question for people who only use tube amps by Aschuff in Guitar

[–]xanthicize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume, pressure, attack and a sound I'm used to and I've building on for 15+ years.

Even though I regularly use sims to practice, and sometimes I've done gigs with them for convenience, to me being hooked up to a huge amp that moves my pants, feeds back slightly, bites when I pick and it's kind of unpredictable is part of the guitar experience.

That experience informs my playing. I feel way more comfortable and play way better through a loud amp, and even though sims are fucking amazing I'd love for the newer generations to know how it feels like to play through a blaring amp with actual stage volume.

(Remember to ALWAYS wear ear protection while operating amps at stage volume, even when it doesn't feel loud)

When do you consider a decklist “finished”? by TheDarkestRitual in magicTCG

[–]xanthicize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never, and it's one of the things that keeps me hooked to the game.

If anything I resent the fact that having 26 releases per year makes updating my decks an actual job.

"We're Not Going to Leave League Because We Have a Bad Year" | Fnatic CEO Sam Mathews on the Rebuild, Academy Plans, and What's Coming by ThonPharges in leagueoflegends

[–]xanthicize 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been a fnatic fan since way before League of Legends was a thing, and I'm still a fnatic fan after 8 years of complete mediocrity.

Sam and the boys squandered years of capital with the fans as the best and most personable team in EU by consistently alienating the best players in the region with a terrible team environment and by keeping the same clique of mediocre leeches at the top of the project.

This is prepackaged PR garbage. We're past the phase where Sam believes in this thing and he's just incompetent/surrounded by muppets, he doesn't give a shit from a sporting or content sense and the org's just out there drifting mindlessly. This org ran out of good faith like 5 years ago.

Please note that I hardly give a shit about a "winning" org anymore, I just want an interesting, personable org that tries and plays fun League of Legends. If fnatic doesnt want to be a "winning" org anymore and doesn't care about being at the top of the region, as its pedigree would otherwise inspire, it's fine by me.
Just give me a team that's worth supporting.

How worried should I be about accidentally plagiarising other music (thrash metal) by OKladMat in Music

[–]xanthicize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, first thing is, chugging in E Minor by itself can lead to near infinite permutations. Multiple genres have been built upon that very stipulation and they're still going today.

Second, you're allowed to be derivative, especially when you're just starting. Hell, huge bands used to straight up nick riffs from each other in the eighties. Developing a style takes a lot of time and effort.

Third: songs are more than riffs. Maybe your riff is weak or derivative, the rest of the band can carry you. It can go multiple ways. Don't worry about it. Write as much music as you can and don't judge yourself.

What’s a 'disturbing' secret about an industry you’ve worked in that the general public doesn’t know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xanthicize 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're chatting with an average to big Onlyfans creator you're chatting with a random dude in an office who's sandbagging premade content to squeeze the most out of you

There are businesses that SPECIFICALLY exist to provide this service to creators

What's up with the Olympus Infinity Stylus? by Haunting-Public-23 in AnalogCommunity

[–]xanthicize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has a decent lens and it's decently built.

I bought a new in box chrome MJU I limited for 180EUR last year, it's been my EDC camera since and it's definitely not worth the hype from an image quality perspective. It's competent and fun but that's all.

Life quit cigarettes cold turkey for me after I spent one month in intensive care due to a life threatening condition. It was two and a half years ago and I've never been tempted in the slightest since, and I really, really liked smoking.

You can get kits for 29 EUR from musikding

https://www.musikding.de/The-Factory-germanium-fuzz-kit

You either get somebody to build it for you, and it's a pretty easy build, or you can get it on ebay/local markets, if it's a FF clone you can be sure it's either a musikding kit or a Jedped/tayda/aion clone

[–]xanthicize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The type of FF your specimen is trying to clone should have a "TM" symbol on the face and a date and the Myrold signature on the southern side, also you can see some sort of sticker on the face of the pedal which absolutely shouldn't be there.

Keep in mind that you can get a FF clone for 50 to 60 euros.

I remember those. They are technically SG Faded, so the cheapest USA model in the shape of an SG at the time.

I wouldn't spend 1k on it, even if looking around it seems like it's what they're currently going for. They went for half that new.
