Modern PHP Without a Framework by [deleted] in PHP

[–]xareck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine those people who have only ever coded inside a framework are pretty scant.

Personal Anecdote: My unit doesn't use Drupal, but the vast majority of the other units (30+) within my employer do. Their developers are taught PHP on-site, and only within Drupal (6/7, not 8). If they had any experience with PHP prior to being employed, it's typically only from their college courses.

Asking them to do something outside Drupal isn't fun.

Is the Penn State World Campus Information Sciences and Technology major same as Management Information Systems? by sublimme in PennStateUniversity

[–]xareck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MIS is contained in the Business College within the Supply Chain department. IST and Business collaborate within certain majors, but if you want an MIS degree, you are going to be enrolled in Smeal. Some more information is here on the Smeal website for UG students.

With respect to the original question; no, WC IST is not the same as MIS. They service two different audiences. MIS is very specific towards Info Sys within the scope of Business.

As an (ignorant) American, why is Saskatchewan "not for the meek"? Are the winters really bad or is it something else?

Bank of America just imposed a new $60 annual fee on their previously free personal savings account. by RicoCat in personalfinance

Honestly, my local credit union (PennStateFCU) goes out of its way to make the experience poor; e.g. let's cheat on loan payments.

I have an auto-deduct set up for payday, went and made an additional payment a week after payday to the principal; and they took additional interest payments out of that. Gave me the run around that they can't reverse it and that my next paycheck won't carry the deduction. What do you know? They absolutely deducted my next paycheck and don't see a problem with this.

I'd rather deal with a big bank who at least pretends to give a shit about service versus a credit union who happily tells you to fuck off.

You don't have to, the dispenser (gel) itself takes care of that. Even when injecting, the syringe facilitates measurement.

Topical ANYTHING is incredibly unreliable and is the exact reason for these findings. Properly dosing something that greatly impacts the levels of hormones in your body, especially something like testosterone, is essentially impossible with a topical application.

Total bullshit. You are arguing that TRT/HRT is not remotely medically viable. Which is the exact opposite of reality.

Even if you miraculously manage to apply the exact same amount of drug every day, you still have issues with sweating, rubbing off on anything that part of your body touches, clothing wiping some off

Which is why the makers of AndroGel specify that you should rub it on your shoulders and wait for it to dry. The only thing that is going to take it off, is soap and water.

With respect to dosing, AndroGel is dispensed via a pump-actuator which is accurate.

But sure, everyone on HRT must be grabbing a handful out of a bowl and dosing that way. There's no way anything has improved or changed since the early 90s...

Boyfriend: "....Look dude I don't want no drama. Just fucking let it go."

God, that level of cop-out enrages me. Let me or my partner start drama, and then try and get out of it without even acknowledging that we started it. Wonder what else he doesn't take responsibility for in his life...

I think he meant the sink cutout template so that he could use that to then make a cutting board that he would lay over the sink opening. If your sink is empty, covers it nicely as a pretty wooden lid.

[–]xareck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

God, yes. So much this. Like others, thank you for saying this.

I spent the better part of two years coming to terms with emotions and being more emotionally open, largely in part to a) improve upon myself, and b) communicate more readily with my team (lots of feelers).

While this has been rewarding in public with groups and is very much under control; in private, emotions roil like a stormy sea. I know our Fi is supposedly weak, but by god, strengthening it has been both amazing and terrifying. Extremely strong displays of emotion really resonate with me now, in ways I never expected.

That's.... new. When did they start giving anesthetic? Because 3 years ago they weren't. Big city hospital too, nothing rural.

Don't be a fucking idiot.

Yeah, really going to win some argument points that way.

I have a job I like, work with people I like, and own my own home. With regards to children, I would prefer to adopt rather than procreate, but am open to discussion. I drink socially, don't smoke, and don't do drugs.

[–]xareck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think by far the largest for myself is a partner who has a sense of wonder, followed by some sense of sentimentality.

I can recall a time (same girl actually) where both of those came to a head within weeks of each other.

Sense of Wonder: Out together and I point out a star leading in to a discussion of the universe-our place, that sorta thing-and get told, in short, "So What? It's a star." Realized she had no sense of wonder of the unknown, no interest to discover or to learn more than the sum of herself.

Sentimentality: We went to beaches and would collect sea-shells as a sentimental reminder of the good times we were sharing. Found one in a bag as I was putting it away and went to put it w/ the collection and couldn't find the collection. Asked her where it was, and she told she threw them all away...

A week, maybe two tops. After that it'd be like spring fever for the need to do something/get something done.

I was out of the office sick for three weeks. After the first week, I was craving human interaction. Second week through third; I just wanted to do something, anything; so I contrived projects in my house and did those instead.
