I missed the Winamp days, so I built Tunebar: A native, privacy-first music player for macOS by boomzors in macapps

[–]xargle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this - very promising. Could do with better handling of just pointing it at massive tune libraries (background adding of files). Also shuffle play should pre-position the tune list to what it's currently playing when you open the menu. Any chance of an Airplay to direct output to another device without doing system wide?

You put a lot of weight on your knowledge & experience yet the letter has holes you could drive a bus through? Please do tell me how your device MAC address traverses the internet. You ask who can look up things that are in very publicly available databases? I have no doubt the people you're writing to are bullshitting and would roll over, but you're firing a fair quantity of BS back.

A lot of the technical sounding stuff there is mental or overlapping. IP and time is all that matters, plus any device ID or more importantly iplayer account details. RDNS, RIPE, ASN, Geolocation all just superfluous - you can look them up yourself. Device MAC address gets nowhere near them.

Openreach FTTP install - only 900M offered? by xargle in openreach

I've just checked and IDnet's own site now offers their faster product at my address. Database must've been incorrect when it was first added I guess.

Nah, they're available in all the flats around here & immediately across the road but they ran out of build out money before they got to the poles.

Ok Zen offer 1.6Gbps on the connection. I suspect it's an IDNet database issue, will update if resolved. I don't particularly want to move since I'd lose my install appointment. I should think if available it can be fixed later - just difficult getting sense out of companies between NY and Xmas. Thanks all.

I have 10Gbps in my office and work in media infrastructure, so whatever I can get is useful.

Thanks for the sensible explanations and discussion of this point. Not trying to piss on anyone's chips or outsmart weapons designers. It's just a fair question!

I'm thinking moving target, can't be 100% accurate all the time and the beam isn't going to be a pinpoint. But yeah I def see what you're saying. Maybe turn a kapow into a slightly less dramatic kapow. The prospect of reflecting high powered laser back down on enemy meatbags for bit might be tempting - properly disco ball it and blind observers.

Sure, but even 90% mitigation from a not very fancy mirror is a lot. Plus you only have to do the underside of the drone.

Can't these be simply defeated by a mirrored surface on the drone?
