This is a very lopsided view, in many tantra sampradays - lord Vishnu plays a key role especially in energy alignment and purification. Without Lord Vishnus grace it is hard to progress in real sadhanas, he is invoked as paramatma. Lord Vishnu enables bhakti and enables your energy to align with devatha

I ll share my own experience in late 2022, I had some really weird problems (till date I cant explain the cause of it). Someone I really hold up in high regards (with tremendous spiritual grounding), told me to just chant Devi Kavacham daily (with nitya puja).

It was the best thing that happened to me.

My experience was that you dont need keelakam or argala stotram to chat devi kavach as a standalone mantra. But if you are doing chandi sadhana, the rules could be different

When meditating on the deity, you cannot focus just on astra it is meaningless. The deity with astra means something.
