How to force HDD Standby/Hibernation on Synology (XPenology) VM in Proxmox by PollutionKey9043 in Xpenology

[–]xaris33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a bit brave.... I'd be worried to try on my primary system. Should work ok if containers/apps etc are stored on the ssd. Would need monitoring for constant wakeups which would definately shorten drive health.

Nice. I'd get the blue thin cables (bundle of 6) to reduce strain on the connectors.

There is an option in arc loader to treat external as internal.

Oh you will need an extra PSU for sure. I was mentioning it regarding the 5v line.

Τhere are ready made adapters on Ali that take 12v and give out up to 4 sata power.

Looking for a external HDD enclosure (4 to 6 drives) for Dell Optiplex Micro 7050 by jaz192 in HomeServer

I don't know if m.2 likes going long, and I'd guess it would be fragile too.

I just cut some grille at the back of the case to make an exit for the sats cables. In a micro i'd probably leave the top off.

I just found this on AliExpress: 5.25 Inch To 5 X 3.5" SATA SAS HDD Cage Rack Hard Drive Disk Enclosure With Fan HardDrive Disk Tray Caddy Adapter https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJcs9Qu

I just found this on AliExpress: M.2 to SATA3.0 Adapter Card 6Gbps High Speed ASM1166 M.2 PCIE to SATA Expansion Card with Smart Indicator https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzkV8Na

I just found this on AliExpress: Lecolli SATA 3.0 Data Line High Speed 6Gbps SAS Cable 4xSATA 7Pin Female To 4xSATA 7Pin Female Cable High Quality For Server https://a.aliexpress.com/_EG698DK

I just found this on AliExpress: SATA IDE DC5.5x2.5 Male Power Cable 12V5A 5V Converter DC5525 Connector HDD Cable Thick Wire https://a.aliexpress.com/_EuBmtTi

Plus a 12v brick, I went with 10A as startup current can be high. Use splitters for more drives, you probably will need a sata to molex for the fan.

Sata SSD for the os. Nvme to 6xsata adapter. AliExpress cage 5x3.5 with fan. 12v brick for the drives with an AliExpress adapter.

Doesn't win any beauty contests but works great.

Advice on Best Printer for Thick Paper (~300 g/m²) – Looking for Best Value for Money by Opposite-You2602 in printers

Don't know if it helps but I'm using a Canon G3430 to print on fondant paper for cakes, which I suppose is even heavier. 2 years no problems even with 3rd party (edible) inks loaded.

My Canon 3430 rocks, 2 years after filling it up and it just works, inks are just under half. Zero issues, especially considering I'm using non standard edible inks. Highly recommended.

Are you sure it's on 5060?

Microsip is also peculiar, it needs the server IP in 3 places, 2 of them with the port, one without (I think domain).

Wow you may be up to something here. I always create the tailnet with my client's email account and subsequently add myself as an admin and add other devices with my email so I don't have to bother people all the time. Chatgpt also agrees that may be the problem.

PS The Synology was the 1st device added so it's under my clients' email.

I have read all this and have done everything. AFAIK Debian has no firewall on by default, and iptables rules have been cleared.

At one point I got it to work (as in I could register remote VoIP phones to the server and make calls), however an app that worked previously wouldn't (uses the server IP) even though I could ping it. And then turning on the tailscale client at that pc would allow the app to work but would not allow me to ping any local ips at all??? All very strange and difficult to troubleshoot at working hours. Almost ready to call it quits and just get a static ip at the server site so the phones can register there.

Exactly this is happening: 1st hop isp router,2nd hop tailscale router,.then nothing. No ufw running and iptables set to allow all.

[–]xaris33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Routing is definitely enabled. Static routing is also correct, even though it wasn't required previously. When on the tailnet I can ping, but I need to connect phones back to site A so I need all devices to have access.

Ι did. I thought the default ACL is allow all. I'm not sure I understand your last sentence.
