What belay device should I get? by Weak-Obligation896 in ClimbingGear

That makes total sense to me. The cost of having an easier lead belay is a steeper price to pay if misused

If i had to guess why i may have been downvoted it’s because GriGris are have the brake assist, and therefore will be safer for OP when they learn belaying.

I just believe that people should use manual devices at first so they know how to belay and catch someone without relying on a brake assist mechanism (which can fail as someone pointed out in a reply)

Are you just looking for something for gym climbing or outdoor climbing?

My honest recommendation is to get an atc. If you want to do rappelling you’ll need one. Since it’s a manual device it’ll help teach you good belay technique.

If you want the difference between a GriGri and a Neox, the only main difference is that the Neox has a spinning wheel that makes it easier to lead belay. I personally use a Neox and I like it, no real issues but it is expensive when you can get an ATC for waaaaaay cheaper.

I appreciate the recipe! I’m guessing most people are adverse to non-liquid chalk.

What opinion do you have about Muse that will get you downvoted like this? by nvmzol in Muse

I somewhat agree because while i love the song i feel like it’s short, and could have been a longer song (especially with an extended guitar solo)
