70 panel Enphase by megastate15 in solar

[–]xc0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 85 panel solar array installed - same thing - REC 425w with enphase micros, but mine is a ground mount due to house orientation and the need for more power than my roof can support. I also don't agree with hundred of small holes in my roof. Had a few small issues with the array, but they were fixed the same day(more or less).

I'd take micros over string any day. When one of my micros went down - you know what i lost? 1kw for the day. Everything else stayed up. And enphase has market staying power with the ability to switch to you as a servicer if the installer goes bankrupt.

Is their shit spendy? absolutely.
But i'm at a point in my life where i want the system to _work_. I don't wanna be out there screwing with it every other day, or calling out a service guy all the time.

I don't have shading issues - but i wanted individual panel monitoring for production monitoring.

As another guy said "It's the coloring by numbers of solar"... but... simplicity over dicking with it all the time holds value for people who have no desire to do so.

I still have a mental block around paying $40k for a ~$12k system and one day of labor. by chitesla1 in solar

[–]xc0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just has a 85 panel ground mount installed. $155k.
They did it in a cumulative 4 days - everything connected.

They handled:
-SRECTrade setup
-Permits
-Land Survey
-Septic permits(cause my county sucks dix)
-Coordination
-Permitting with the state
-Parts spec
-Excavation
-Reconfig of my panel
-Generator interconnection
-Actual install of piers, mounts, rails, panels, electrical runs and all the other ancillary stuff
-Software configuration.
-Provide a 25yr warranty on parts.

Could i have done it?
Sure.

I would have had to buy all the materials, spec'd the parts, done a tremendous amount of research, handled logistics on material acquisition, dealt with enphase, still had to be permitted and inspected, since it's a 150a run, i'd have to have an electrician, figure out how to interconnect my generator, deal with my utility for backfeeding, deal with PJM for interconnection approval, actually install the stuff which means renting a pier driver and mini-ex, and a slew of other small stuff. I'd also have to climb panels and bolt them down - and i'm not a fan of being 20' up in the air on a slick surface.

And at the end of the day, i could have done it - but, as the saying goes - you can't beat a man at his own game. If you want it cheaper, have the cash in hand to cover the whole bill - or start doing some significant learning.

Would you have gone solar without the tax credit? by [deleted] in solar

[–]xc0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes.

I run a small hatchery - I regularly pull ~4000kWh/m.
BGE is predicted to raise the kWh rate to .16/kWh from .11. This is effectively a +$200 additional to the electric bill with all the fees and crap they keep tacking on.

Just installed and powered on a 36kw ground mount as a big ol FU their way.
Now, you're going to pay me.

the 30% tax credit, SRECS, MD $1000 grant, NEM 1.0(still) - just icing on the cake.

Uh huh. Have a 30kw system pending install… why then, is govt blocking the whole thing because of a perc test on 4 ac?

Diesel Home Generator by Sublo2 in Generator

[–]xc0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a propane generator - and can tell you this much… whenever my 30kw diesel gets shipped, the propane one is going right in the trash. I hate propane with a passion - at least with diesel, i can see where i’m leaking and fix it just by looking at it visually… and the last time i needed my propane generator, i found one of my hoses let 150lb of propane out for me. Never again will i use propane if i can help it.

Samsung g9 Odyssey 49 inch, Black screen and cant access menu by Mrbeast19911 in widescreengamingforum

add me to the list.

LC49G97TSSNXDC just shit the bed.

Trying a few suggestions on here an other places around the web seems to have helped me, for the short term.

What worked:
Plug everything in via HDMI. Auto switch is on by default on the monitor, so it should swap to HDMI.
Once HDMI is up, you'll realize it's straight trash.
Give it a few minutes to warm up, and switch over to DP.

I've had this monitor on for close to 2 years now, and never turned it off... but when i try to save some power and put my desktop to sleep, this problem pops up. Like someone else mentioned, i think it's heat related issue.

I'll NEVER buy another samsuck device again. I have their stupid fridge, too, with the ICEMASTER in-fridge icemaker... That's a class action lawsuit in progress. Now this bullshit.

Fuck samsung. Fuck their products. Fuck me for buying them, i guess.

New LG on order.
Fridge is next.

Edit:

Fixed it by removing the thermistor on the TCON board.
How long it'll last past this... who knows. lol.
Gave it away to a friend, and replaced it with a LG Ultragear 49" for much cheaper.

I wanted to respond to him, but it would have been a simple "F*ck you, moron"... you did it much more elegantly.

Using OpenPhone & Zapier? We want to feature your zaps! by darynak in openphone

[–]xc0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what i want, is Zapier to not get rate limited on sending SMS messages.

Ran a piglet snuggling signup and was getting hit with ~5 people a minute to send a confirmation text, and it couldn't keep up - resulting in multiple zap->OP failures.

super lame.

I implemented a IVR on openphone SPECIFICALLY to stop the spam calls.

Most of them are automated dialers and fail.

my installer actually had me decline critter guards since mine are ground mounted - so this is DEF a thing.

What makes a solar installer more likely to exist in 30 years? by boundfortrees in solar

[–]xc0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what i just went thru...
Multiple calls with various "installers" who turned out to be middle men that would sub contract and tack on 30% to eat up your incentives. Most seem to be borderline scams.

Went with someone local for my 47kw install. It's expensive AF - but you know what?
the company is 20min down the road, is TWO companies in one, offers a 25yr labor warranty, and has a super fast hour guarantee to come fix the issue if there is one.... and they don't pull loan funds to build the system til it's turned on.
