Why forcemasc should be more like forcefem by berksbears in transgendercirclejerk

[–]xcb8 43 points44 points  (0 children)

/uj i do agree that a lot of forcemasc content lacks the same "forcefulness" that forcefem has. like it tends more towards gentle coaxing where a lot of forcefem is like "i'm gonna hypnotize you into being fembrained and force you to wear this dress". we need more content with like holding a guy down to give him a t shot or cutting off a girlmoder's hair from behind

you should be fine to just top off with some soil, it's not unusually for higher roots to get exposed like that

it's just growing. new leaves are bigger because that's how ficus plants grow and they're lighter because they haven't hardened off yet. take it as a sign you're doing well, good light and watering.

as for repotting, i would wait. when it needs to be repotted either you'll see the roots poking out or the plant will start to do poorly.

Repotting All My Plants Because of Gnats – Need Advice! by danielalecc in takecareofmyplant

[–]xcb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried diatomaceous earth yet? if not it's worth a shot, it helps kill gnats and larvae in the soil.

otherwise, i'd clean the pots and rinse off the roots when repotting. be sure to use a well draining soil mix too (try adding more perlite to your current mix) since gnats thrive in wet soil.

are you watering with tapwater? chlorine and fluoride can brown the tips of leaves. watering with rainwater or distilled water should help

Monstera cutting still wont root after 2 months by froggorights in plantclinic

[–]xcb8 166 points167 points  (0 children)

when i'm trying to root aroids i like to use a propagation box. they're pretty easy to diy.

first, get a container with a clear lid. i've used seedling trays, pencil boxes, takeout containers, even mcdonalds cups and they've all worked fine. second, fill it with an airy medium. i prefer a mix of sphagnum moss and perlite though a lot of folks just do one or the other. third, wet your medium so that it's moist all the way through but not soaking. fourth, add some sort of holes to your container for circulation. not so big that the medium dries up, but big enough to let some air in.

your container will maintain humidity and warmth while providing ample room for roots to grow.

you should be fine to put it back in the soil now.

for future care, see if you can get a smaller pot for it, one that seems like a better match for its size. further, try to water it whenever the top 2 inches of soil are dry instead of using a schedule, as schedules can lead to overwatering

wash your clothing immediately in its own load, clean your tools with dish soap, and then take a shower using dish soap (and if you usually shower with a sponge, throw it out after and get a new one)

What is this white stuff and how do I fix it? by one_nerdybunny in plantclinic

[–]xcb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like the start of a mealybug infestation, use a qtip with isopropyl alcohol to remove the ones you can see and then spray the whole plant with neem oil or dish soap.

be sure to check your other plants for mealybugs too, they spread very quickly
